What method is best going into the playoffs?Do you think you should rest your starters so that they are ready for the playoffs,or do you think its better to go in playing your starters trying to make sure your team stays consistent?
I say you keep starting them but reduce their minutes a bit, so they dont get hurt. Starting them, will help your team going into the postseason because it'll keep them in a rhythm and the team will continue playing good basketball into the playoffs
The thing is if you play your starters less you gotta have a good bench,if you don't you will end up losing games and rhythm.
Pistons got the Chemistry ot turn it on whenever they please. They won't have any worries if thet rest their starters.
It really depends on the team, and if they have anything to play for. If you are a team like the Pistons, who have clinched home court throughout the playoffs, or a team that is stuck in a certain seed more likely than not, I would probably continue to play the starters, but reduce their minutes. However, if you're a team still trying to move up a little, or keep your current seed, I'd keep playing my starters the normal minutes they usually get.
I think teams need to worry about the minutes for the whole season. A lot of coaches overplay their starters and than expect that 1 game off is going to save them and they will be back to normal. I think a seasons worth of fatigue is not going to rejuvenate you on 1 game off. I say consistency is important and minutes should be watched throughout the season for the team to play at its highest level.
I say rest them but dont over due it. 30-35 mintues a game would be good. If the player is sorta injuried then I would shut him down for the rest of the season unless hes 100 percent.
If you are a top 3 seed then yeah sure, rest your starters so they will be top notch for the playoffs. But if you are battling for playoff position then you need your best players out there.btw good job making topics man!

Thats like saying why dont the 76ers bench Iverson for the rest of the season to get some rest.
I think going into the playoffs you want to maintain some sort of winning mentality while also providing rest for your key players to prevent injury and to allow them to be at 100% for the playoff run..However, you dont want to get into bad habits or become rusty in your play, its kind of a tough middle ground in my opinion..
It does depend on the team but for a team like the Pistons. They can just play their starters for 20-30 minutes and let the bench play the rest. For the Pistons its better get the bench set in the last 3 games. Obviously if you are fighting to get in the playoffs you are going to play your starters a lot to win or if you are not in the playoffs you probably let everyone play some minutes.
I mean this for a team that needs as many wins as possible, now lets say you've been resting your starters but your losing games,do you start them?
If you need the wins youre not gonna be resting your starters..Its the teams that have clinched and have nothing to lose that would rest starters, not those that are still fighting for position..
Honestly in any situation you should rest your players and possibly sit them out the final games. If you locked up a playoff spot, who cares what seed you get as long as your healthy. It's all done if your top players get hurt right before the playoffs. Look at Bron's recent injury, it's not bad but it shows what can happen if it was serious.
No I meant if you were a 6th seed and a couple games back from the 4th or 5th seeds, you're going to have to play your starters bc it's key to be in a good seed going into the playoffs.

Look at a team like the Pistons who rely mainly on their starters... this would give the bench an opportunity to improve and possibly have a bigger impact down the stretch in the playoffs.
