http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2009/10/andrew-bynum-is-dropping-kareem/ This is a stupid move by Bynum.
I think writers are making a big deal out of nothing, and I can't stand it. He didn't drop him. He said he was going to reduce the time spent with him. Maybe Bynum feels he's learned all he wants to from Kareem? Maybe he wants to expand his game to a mid range level, something that Kareem isn't of doing.
Hm, cocky? I don't know. The kid came into the league a fat-faced, chubby teenager. He's transformed his body and proven his work ethic. Where does the cocky attitude stereotype come from? I'm not denying it, I just don't know when/how it started.
It's not like he's completely shunning Kareem, Kareem just isn't going to play as big of a role. It all comes to down to Drew, when it's all said and done. I trust he has the resources and dedication to continue to work on and improve his game. Bottom line is, if he works hard, sky's the limit. Kareem also tutored Kandi Man, and we all know how that worked out. I'm not exactly feeling this move, but I sort of understand it. We can't have Kareem holding Drew's hands for the rest of his career, hopefully he knows what he's doing.
Troll much? Anyway I believe Mamba and LO in what they say on this topic. The Kandi Man reference is one i forgot about.
I was skeptical when this came out, but now that I remember Kareem tutoring the Kandi man before too, then I'm fine with Bynum doing this. lol I just hope that he continues to improve his post game and not settle for those very annoying jumpshot clankers.
He's got the touch to knock down the little jumper, he just needs to practice it more. If Kareem didn't want him to practice it, I understand him wanting to move on.
I don't think CK was trolling. The general consensus amongst the media is that Bynum is arrogant and doesn't work hard, for whatever reason. I have no clue why that idea has spread.
^ Yep, and that's why I said it, wasn't to put him down or anything. It's good to be cocky at times, just look at Kobe. (and his results) But he's still young so who knows.
No one player is reliant solely on one coach/mentor. If he can't cut it without Kareem, he'll never be able to cut it. Period. People who think this is a big deal should step back and think, imo.
My only issue is that he's 21. That's the age of most rookies coming into the league. I would've liked it if he worked more with Kareem for another 2-3 years, because it's a complete lie if you tell me he has absorbed all the information he possibly can from the Cap. Oh well, I trust he knows what he's doing...
