I'm looking at the fact that Thompson is a 4/5, and Randolph is more of a 3/4. But, all I said was he would have been a good addition AS WELL, as in, I didn't say I prefered one rotation to the other, that both would have been good choices for us.
Randolph can handle and pass the ball a little, but height/wingspan/vert. reach wise he measured in almost as big as Aldridge. He was the youngest player in the league last year (19 y/old) so he'll add weight to his thin frame as he matures. I'm fine with LA guarding most of the league's 5s so any combo of those two and Greg would work. Since both he and LA have good jumpers they could have conceivably played all 3 together too possibly zoning up on the other end. Throw Nic and Brandon in with them and we're talking! Thompson (22 y/old last season) is a decent enough young Big, but I don't think he's as good now and doesn't have nearly the upside of AR. STOMP
Amen brother. We would have a whole lot less fluff and get to the substance much quicker and much more enjoyable for most as well.
Rush is 6-6.5, 210. That's closer to Roy's size than Webster's. He does have a good wingspan though at 6-11. Bottom line, as a 23-year-old rookie, he didn't exactly set the world on fire last season (9 PER). Batum as a 20 year-old had a far better season (not to mention he's 6-8). I'd even much rather have Martell.
Sadly, there is some truth to that. JJ shouldn't have been starting, and he certainly wasn't a full-time PG. Nate's failure to accept that cost us a useful reserve swing guard. As for Blake getting traded - forget it. Jack was Nate's guy - but Blake is Roy's boy. Who do you think is really calling the shots?

he's actually a half inch shorter then Roy in height, but you don't play hoops with the top of your head. Wingspan, vertical reach, and weight are what I was referring to... by those measures he's about the same size as Martell. Besides that, I'm on record thinking Roy will be seeing about half his minutes at SF this year. I was only talking size. My posted draft day hope at #13 was Randolph and if he was gone I wanted Batum. STOMP

Yep exactly... I used to try and just talk and reason with people.. but some people you cant just reason with. We have a few here. I hope a lot of us adopt the same mentality, to just not take the bait, or not feed the trolls. That will hopefully change the way those posters bitch and moan too.

Well, since you asked, in '07-'08 I would rather Roy have played more minutes at the 1 with Martell at the 2 than have Jack at the 1 and Roy at the 2.
Roy can play the point yes.. but having him chase around 1's for a season is not a good idea.. he would break down a lot faster IMO.

You would have rather played "no handles" 12 PER Martell that can not attack the basketball from the dribble with a TS% of .548 over 13 PER, .558 TS% and can attack the rim from a dribble Jack that could actually get the ball over the half-court line instead of have Roy do it all the time? I know that people think JJ is a bad PG - but his 22.7% AST% is miles better than Webster's 7.0% that year. While Roy can handle the ball a lot and create - he was already at 28.7% AST% at the time next to Jack and Blake. You would have killed him trying to guard point guards and being the sole ball handler running the offense if he did not have other people helping him. If you see what the Blazers tried to do this year when they went FA shopping? They tried to bring people to take the pressure off Roy, while you suggest they should have given him more work and burdened him further? I am pretty sure that this act shows that the Blazers think the complete opposite of what you just suggested...
Guys, stop feeding the troll. Brandon Rush puts up 20/6/3 in a preseason game and it gets a thread? Seriously, where's the thread bitiching about passing on A.J. Price? He put up similar stats (16/4/4) on better shooting (6-9 vs. 6/14) in 2/3 the minutes. And, we also passed on Roy Hibbert. His stat line (20 pts/11 rebs/8 blks) was WAY better than Brandon Rush's. Crap, based on this game, Hibbert looks like the next Hakeem Olajuwon - god how could we have passed on such a once-a-generation center? BNM
