    How many players should be in the regular season rotation?

    How many players should be in the playoff rotation?

    Is it different?

    Who should they be?

    The bolded question above is the poll question.

    My Playoff Rotation:
    guards: Roy, Rudy, Miller
    forwards: Batum, Webster, LMA
    Centers: Oden, Pryzbilla

    So, I think in the playoffs, we should run a tight 8-man rotation, barring foul trouble of course.

    How many players should be in the regular season rotation? 10 (to keep guys fresh for the play offs)

    How many players should be in the playoff rotation?

    Is it different? It would have to be, considering the number of players is smaller.

    Who should they be?

    Roy/Rudy/Miller
    LMA/Batum/Howard/Roy
    Oden/LMA/Pryz

    Game starters: Roy, Miller, LMA, Batum, Oden.
    Other line-ups:
    Miller, Rudy, Roy, LMA, Howard
    Rudy, Roy, Batum, LMA, Oden
    Roy, Batum, LMA, Priz, Oden (to go huge).

    For resting Roy for 8 minutes a game (Miller, Rudy, Batum, LMA, Oden)

    11 for the regular season:

    PG: Miller / Blake/ Bayless
    SG: Roy / Fernandez
    SF: Batum / Webster
    PF: Aldridge / Outlaw
    C: Oden / Przybilla

    Use depth to keep Roy, Aldridge and Miller from playing monster minutes, so they'll be fresh all season and, especially, in the playoffs.

    8 for the playoffs:

    Guard Rotation: Roy / Miller / Fernandez
    Wing Rotation: Batum / Outlaw
    Big Man Rotation: Aldridge / Oden / Przybilla

    Slash the rotation down to the very best players and take advantage of those more-rested legs.

    so Roy and Fernandez will barely be playing any minutes at PG if any at all during the regular season, then when it matters in the playoffs we are just gonna throw them in there? IMO Blake needs to be in the playoff rotation.

    The main problem with Roy or Fernandez at point guard, IMO, is defense. But Blake's defense is hardly stellar and I can even see letting Batum take some minutes defending point guard (while Roy defends the SF).

    I could see Miller playing close to 40 minutes per game in the post-season, with the greater number of days off during the playoffs and fewer minutes during the regular season. So there wouldn't need to be a large number of point guard minutes to cover.

    9 in the regular season.. and at least 8 in the playoffs.. but possibly 9.

    (Joel and Oden being out there for half the time LMA is out, and Twin Towers for the other 6 minutes)

    I say 9:

    PG: Andre Miller, Steve Blake

    SG Brandon Roy, Rudy Fenandez

    SF Nicolas Batum, Martell Webster

    PF LaMarcus Aldridge

    C Greg Oden, Joel Pryzbilla

    As the season goes on, find a way to trim it to eight. LaMarcus is the sole pf in this situation. Give Oden or Joel his backup minutes.

    I agree with as up to as much as 11 players during the regular season. Use your depth and keep guys fresh.

    Playoffs, 9. Rotate Batum/Webster/Outlaw and go with the hot hand. The regular season will decide this mostly though.

    I was just wondering what people are thinking in terms of minutes when they espouse a 4-guard rotation. If we ran such a rotation, then the average for each would be 24 minutes.

    Let's assume that Roy plays 40 mpg in the playoffs, which I don't think is unreasonable. That leaves 56 minutes for the other 3, for an average of less than 19 minutes.

    Let's further assume that Blake get 12 mpg. That leaves 44 minutes or an average of 22 minutes each for Rudy and Miller. IMHO, that's not enough minutes for those two players.

    That's why I'm a 3-guard lineup guy.

    Instead of
    Roy/Miller/Rudy/Blake for 40/22/22/12 minutes,
    I like
    Roy/Miller/Rudy for 40/30/26 minutes.

    Use Blake if we have someone in foul trouble. I think Blake could play with any of the three.

    Leaving Blake out of the rotation is crazy. For one, you know Nate's not going to do it. Secondly, Blake is actually a very useful player, even though most people don't want to admit it.

    They ought to rotate a guy or two during the regular season for some rest. Maybe the minutes issue wouldn't be so bad if most players got to play a significant amount of time in 4 out of every 5 games.

    Roy spent 47% of the teams total minutes at SG last year, and 25% at SF. I would assume that will not change much. This is how we give Rudy minutes.
