I didn't say racism plays no part in ANYTHING, I just don't see racism involved with this at all. I think most people acknowledged that the Boise State guy was acting like an ass, and maybe even deserved to get popped. You're reaching. As for reversing the colors of the players, I think you would hear mroe venom and hatred about it, because of idiots like Sharpton or Jackson, and they probably would have fough tto press legal charges against the guy.
So who was he being partial towards? Players that DON'T punch people and try to attack fans? Oh the humanity.
No, I'm not. While I'm not saying that it's as open and blatant as has been in the past, but it definitely played a role in my opinion, especially with ESPN and the Internet stoking the emotion pot for several days about it. "Coddled Uppity Black Athletes who think they are above the law, we'll show 'em!"-type reactions.
Well, it wasn't in their normal news section. They have a Page 2 section for these type of joke articles, humor, OT type of stuff, etc.
I know.. to me that is for something like the Onion (which I do enjoy) or something like that... not a Big Time Sports Corporation. I swear it wasnt cause I was being a sensitive Sally just because it wasnt my team
Meh, to each their own. I found it amusing, and thank you for posting it, otherwise, I surely wouldn't have come across it. Quite possible I found more humor in it because I am not a Duck fan.
To some yes.. to me.. eh not so much. Even if it was about USC or OSU or even SEC teams.. which I hate more than anything! Glad someone liked it though And I hope we have a clash to remember soon in Autzen with our teams.. but first things first.. we gotta get through the month.
Michigan player punches Notre Dame player. It gets 1/10 the coverage. UM coach refuses to issue *any* suspension. No outrage. Big 10 steps in and suspends the guy for 2 games. The primary reaction is that ND are a bunch of whiners for expecting the guy to be disciplined for his actions. Explain the difference to me? You may not believe race was a factor - but SOMETHING caused the second incident to be treated entirely differently from the Blount situation. Even before the punch, I thought Blount was a douche who deserved to be benched....but even I am begining to question a full season suspension.
While I originally thought that only 3 games was enough.. I understand the lose lose situation that Kelly was put in. I think more of what had to do with the coverage was there was 36hours in between the next game.. It was on national TV.. and he went after the crowd. He should have reacted better, but I can say that I could see how easy if could be for a 21 year old kid to lose it like that. Especially with stupid fans who wouldnt even think about pulling the same crap without knowing they had 30,000 people with them and police.
Seriously? SERIOUSLY? you mean when this white guy: punched this black guy: it was treated differently? And you think race was the factor? Did you even bother to look at what race the players in the ND-Michigan incident were/ Also, after the Michigan player punched the ND player, did he continue to yell at him, shove a few teammates, and then go after fans? I must have missed that part of the Michigan ND game. But yeah, it's because one guy is black, and the other guy punching is white. Of course.
