That's a very interesting chart. I think it reveals a myth about big-screen TV viewing.

I sit 9.5 feet away from my 46-inch TV, which is within the recommended range for that size screen. However, according to the chart, I could have purchased a 65-inch screen and still been within the acceptable viewing distance!! Most people I've met seem to think that you shouldn't sit that close to a huge TV like a 65-incher.

    Maybe I should have gone bigger . . .

duh, my 50 inch panasonic 1080p costco special is going in the loft at our new house and I plan to get a 65 inch Panasonic G10 or V10 for the new living room. Can't remember which one of the top of my head but it runs around 3500 to 4 grand. Going to have to sell a car I think. :pimp:

I want one of the 103 inch plasmas, I think you might get one for 20 grand.

I wonder what this year's Christmas deals will bring? I would imagine, with the economy as it has been, electronics (among many other products) will be going dirt cheap! Are there forecasts/numbers on these kind of things?

Day after Thanksgiving, you get up at 3 am and go fight other people over tube socks that are on sale, YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Really though, I hear you can get great deals.

I like avsforum.com for info about tvs, there are lcd and plasma specific areas in the forums amongst other things.

AVS Forum is probably the best place I have seen for information relating to home video and audio equipment. Almost every major model of TV (not just brand) has a thread dedicated to it. If you get bored one day go to the High-End Section of the forum.......$25k is drop in the bucket to most of those people.

Yep, it is like a Ferrari show to a car person.

I think it is Bang and Olufsen who makes a 103 inch plasma (panasonic stuff I think) that is on a motored stand that lifts the screen up when you turn it on. Me want:NOTMARIS:

edit, they even have a dedicated thread or two for bluray reviews for sound quality and picture quality, pretty awesome.

I talked with a friend, and he said I should be just fine with a 120 hz mid-40-inch lcd....that I should have no problem finding for under $1,000.

My viewing distance will be somewhere around 10 feet.

    Fair enough?

no because thats a horrible price...you can get almost a 50inch for that price

...im telling you...you are doing yourself a big disservice if you dont find your TV through:

They just had a Sony 46" 120hz 1080p for under $950 but it sold out.

Here is a Sharp Aquos 40" 1080p for $650 AND includes a soundbar which usually goes for $150

Im trying to save you a crapload of money and you are blowing me off!

Just look at that site daily for a week if you dont like those deals, you will find something great

Seriously, I'm not. I'm sorry if it appears that way.

For sure, I'll be checking SD before I pull any trigger. I want it now, but I guess I'm just afraid of the shoulda/woulda/coulda syndrome. I suppose it's easy to experience that with home electronics, though, eh? :)

If I were you I would wait until black friday. That is an insane day to shop but you can get some great deals...

Also, prices stay dropped for the most part after black friday so even the first week of DEC would be a good time to buy....If you can hold out then thats what I would do

Wow. That is one great deal. I paid about $1,500 for my 46-inch Samsung, and this one is bigger and has a better dynamic contrast ratio, for $200 less.

That is a super good deal!!
