I will post the quotes from our bet talks till we lock something down.

OK, that's were it was left. Let's get this thing hammered out. Make a proposal.

Thats what I think...I dont care for all this pace adjusted stuff. We are trying to say who is better. If the case is Oden cant get over Joel for the starting position then that says something about what his coach thinks of his skillset thus should be a factor in our bet. Phil has been known to mess with Bynums head and sit him for extended periods so whatever...

Also, IF Oden is still a foul machine then that should reflect negatively on him. The pace adjusted stuff makes his foul proneness a non-factor. That again should be a factor since having the smarts to stay on the court is yet another measure of a players effectiveness.

So there is my reasoning and there are my basic stat categories, I dont see how anyone who truly believes their player is better can complain about basic stat categories. (and you even get pace adjusted in PER)

    Deal?

(and if so we can work on what we are betting)

of course you don't as Bynum doesn't really have a backup let alone one of the best in the league.
this has been explained to you so don't play dumb

Pace accounts for possesions per game, not foul trouble rizzle

Maybe not but we do have a lineup that will be playing without Bynum

    Fisher/Farmar
    Kobe
    Artest
    Odom
    Gasol

That lineup will get plenty of burn

I stand by my offer and think I should only be discussing this with GOD, agents need not apply :devilwink:

...and as a side note, adding "GOD" to my list in my sig might be the best one yet :ghoti:

    Hello darkness, my old friend
You're talking about minutes-adjusted numbers, not pace-adjusted. Pace adjustment accounts for the number of possessions a team has. The SSOL Suns had a ton of possessions per game, for example. That led to more shots, more assists, more points, more rebounds. Everything goes up when you play at a faster pace, and it has nothing to do with ability. The same player playing in a fast paced offense will generate more "basic" stats than he will playing in a slow paced offense.

The Blazers, under Nate McMillan, generally play at a very slow pace (this can be verified at Basketball-Reference.com). That will decrease Oden's "basic" numbers, through no fault of his own.

    Lock it up DaRizzle

I still think that pace adjusted would be better, but at least this does make it easier to follow. Reward - Since I would be killed for changing your sig, let's just make this an avatar bet. Winner gets to assign the others avatar till day one of preseason the following year. Is this good?

then put it in a PM... problem solved! But if you ask an open question about how you can't believe that everyone isn't buying the nonsense that you're throwing out (as if we all do), you should absolutely expect a response.

Deal then..the terms are settled, for clarification this is a regular season bet (no playoffs)

Heeeeeelllll no....if you were actually around in the summer I would say yes

I say it lasts for however long your or my team is in the playoffs. We will both be active and that could last as little as a week and as much as two months.

So if I was to lose Id probably have to use an avatar of your choice for two months

You lose and it would only be like 1 1/2 weeks you lucky dog :devilwink:

yup... I'm walking the train tracks between Whiskey Dick and Whitehorse. We've some family friends with a couple cabins at the end of the South Junction access. My dad and I have spent an extended weekend fishing there during the Salmon Fly hatch for the last 15 years or so. Heaven on earth.

attached are a few more pix including a rare 18" Dolly I pulled out this past spring

Noooooo! You fool, use the pace adjusted stats! Oh well you locked it in and have already lost. DaRizzle this is between you and GOD and all of us sane folk will use pace adjusted stats to determine who is better. I know I will use pace adjusted in my similar Oden vs. Bynum bet with my friend.

    Im confused...Are you saying:
    A) you want the stats to continue til the end of each teams season, and payment of bet during summer Or

    B) the payment of bet be from the day the reg season ends to the end of the playoffs regardless who is in the finals.

    :dunno:

That line could be the start of a great novel.

Whiskey Dick is an interesting name, (appears to mean flaccid in some contexts) and I thought I'd find it in my McArthur's Oregon Geographic Names (a fantastic reference book, for those who aren't familiar) but no such luck. Any idea of the origin of the name?

nope none... I'd guess it comes from some guy named Dick who had a cabin nearby and enjoyed his whiskey. If you're really interested I'd call up the Oasis restaurant in Maupin (541) 395-2611 as the owners have been guiding the river (and serving up a delicious burger and fries) for decades.
