http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62059/20091011/rasheed_celtics_can_surpass_72_wins/ They've certainly got the arsenal to do it... but i could care less. As long as 2 losses out of those 10 (or 9 or less if 73 wins or more) come from us... and we beat them in the finals i would gladly give them the bulls record.
Can they stay healthy enough for another 60 win season? I'd be more worried about that first. I'll give them 65 wins like my brah elcap said.
The East is too top heavy for them to win 72 games in my opinion, and I think some of the teams that had down seasons last year will improve this year. Plus they will have to play some tough teams when they play the Western opponents, so I just don't see them doing it. Do they have the talent to do it? Maybe, but I don't think they can, especially if they don't stay healthy (which is always a concern when your core is a bunch of 30somethings heading towards the twilights of their careers).
While you are correct in your assessment I cant believe you would even give credence to what Hashweed said.
How many teams are equally as talented? Lakers, Cavs, Orlando and San Antonio. That's 10-12 games. If they go .500 against them, that's only 6 losses. How is a top heavy league going to prevent them from breaking the record? If anything, the depth that these 5 teams has waters down the rest of the league and I think we will see a run at the record by one or two of them.
Basically, because the top of the leaue is so strong, you are guaranteed to lose a few a games to the top teams. This just leaves less room for losses due to bad shooting nights, another teams player going off, bad calls, lucky shots etc. That is the ideaology behind it anyway.
