Check this out. Kinda makes you feel sorry for Chris Paul, doesn't it? And the Hornets so far this pre-season (yes, yes, get the "pre-season doesn't mean anything"s out of your system now) the Hornets have looked pretty horrid. I can see them not making the playoffs, particularly if they have injury problems like they have had, and Peja isn't getting any younger. So... what's a hyper-competitive young guy like Chris Paul to do? Answer, have his agent quietly demand a trade, with the proviso that if nothing is done soon, it'll be a non-quiet demand. And who would he demand a trade to? Probably the Lakers, dammit. But after that, why not us? Who would you give up to get him? Make sure the trades work on the Trade Machine and that they're good enough to beat plausible alternatives by other good teams.
Meh. If he is demanding a trade. I think we have the the players on the team to make it happen without moving Roy, LMA and Oden. But I don't know. I think some posters in here would move Roy for CP3.
Really? You think NO is going to trade the best PG in the game for reserves? I would in fact trade Roy for Paul. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yg9lnx2 Paul/Miller/Bayless Rudy/Bayless/Webster Batum/Webster/Wright LMA/Pryzbilla/Howard Oden/Pryzbilla/LMA I'd probably do that, although I don't know if NO would. You are trading essentially Roy for Paul, but give NO a trial with Blake and Outlaw, both of whom they could let walk at the end of the year to cut salary or resign. Paul would make both Oden and LMA so much better.
You don't trade Roy. The entire city would blow up. He is the face of the franchise now and deep down I don't feel that Paul makes us that better than Roy does. I would say anyone outside of Roy and Oden(just due to odens age and pryz's). A lot of times these deals for superstars come for a bunch of cheap but good prospects. Look at the Gasol trade and other big trades in the past. BUT there is no way CP3 comes to Portland... so just /thread.
I don't know if that would be in Portland's best interest to trade all their depth for Paul. It might make more sense for them to drop one of the big three for him so they can hold on to the depth. But I'm thinking out of Miller, Przyilla, Outlaw, Webster, Fernandez, Bayless, Batum,Blake, Pendergraph, Cunningham. You could come up with enough to get Paul.
I'd trade Roy for Paul. He and LeBron are the two guys in the league I would pull the trigger on instantly for a trade for Roy without a second of remorse. If the Hornets ever were forced to deal Paul, we could probably offer as good a package as anyone in terms of talent and age. It's hard to imagine them doing it, though.
Can you imagine the whining Brandon and LaMarcus would do if we traded for Chris Paul? They are already bitching about getting shots. Hell, Brandon might demand to be traded if he can't get his way, and have the ball in his hands when he wants.
I'm not saying it shouldn't be. I am saying that bringing in an actual PG, that would help the team. is not what Brandon wants.
Is that your opinion, or fact? If it's fact, can you link me to where he was quoted with saying he doesn't want an "actual PG". Maybe I just missed it....
I'd love to throw in Miller and keep Blake as a back-up, it would allow us to keep one of Pendergraph or Cunningham I think, but I was using the ESPN trade machine and Miller can't be traded until 12/15. My scenario would be for a trade right now.
You did miss it. Brandon has stated a few times in the Oregonian that he doesn't think the Blazers need a PG that dominates the ball because he likes to have the ball. He of course never used the term actual PG though
Gotcha. Well, I think I understand what he's trying to do here. I think, with him getting slimmer, and wanting the ball, he wants to become the Blazers PG! Then we can play him at PG, Rudy at SG, and away we go.
I would be all for that, my friend. Although I still think Roy is a SG. Roy does a lot of things that PG's do though. He gets into the lane, he draws fouls and he is a good P&R guy. I can't remember if he is good at creating for others, or dishing off in the lane however? As for defense, if he stayed off his man enough he could keep him in front of him I guess?
