One thing I do like about Obama is that he speaks very clearly and eloquently. He may not always back up what he says, but he is a very effective communicator.

I enjoy that too. It may not determine how smart they really are or if they are making good choices, but I'm glad the leader of our country is well spoken and can effectively communicate.

I see the phrase "Strive to make mischief" as sort of the Interstate Commerce clause of the Koran. It's vague enough so that those who wish can define it however suits them best.
