Here he is: My 12 year old starts singing about 50 secs. He wrote, composed, and performed the song. He was the local headliner for the "Young Americans" concert. The Young Americans came to town and helped teach the local kids how to sing and dance - it was great. No great shakes, I'm just a proud dad, who wanted to share this. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FAX9JTXYi_w&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FAX9JTXYi_w&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
My kid can jam, too. He can just barely get his hands over the rim. I was practicing dunks with him a couple of weeks ago.
Wasn't trying to be funny, but I'm glad you're so easily amused. If I actually ever say anything funny, I'll try to make sure you're there.
That's awesome. I would have been a nervous wreck, playing front of a crowd, and that spot light on me!
Awesome, his voice isn't spectacular but one thing the Brady Bunch taught me is that have a killer singing voice at age 12 isn't a good thing. At age 13 or 14 it is going to be WAY different. Good for him.
That was quite good. I was especially impressed with his guitar playing. I've played guitar since the age of five and I can tell you he'll get leaps and bounds better in the next 4-6 years, which means he'll be incredible if he keeps at it. Thanks for posting it; you should be proud.
Thanks for the comment, it's really good news. This is the first time he's sang in public and felt comfortable about it. It wouldn't have happened without the support of the Young Americans - they make everyone who participates sing. Yes, his voice should change and mature with time and practice.
So shall it be written, so shall it be done. He just turned 13 in January, and I bought him an Ibanez STM1 Iceman (same pickups as the Ibanez Steve Vai signature JEM7V):
