why not use Webster's preseason stats from 2 seasons ago when he was last tearing it up... that would make about as much sense.

Besides that, 8 boards in 53:08 minutes of preseason play (mostly against the high paced Suns) is pretty much exactly what Martell's RBing average has been for his career. Going strictly on stats, nothing has changed

We are just debating. I'm not trying to say you're wrong. Just giving you my point. Also, for a perimeter Center, we have that as well. Aldridge is a very capable 5 if we need perimeter scoring.

Really? I seem to remember him rebounding well on the other teams as well. Am I way off on this?

listen you can throw out all the stats you want... but stats are what they are. im sure steve blake had some nice stats last year better then even guys like jason kidd. doesnt mean anything. when you watch a player play the game... you know wether or not if he can play. webster can. batum... looks like much work is still needed.

watch the 2 play ... webster is a better player with just as much upside.

Look at how many shots were taken Stomp. Webster has made more threes than Batum ever attempted. Big difference.

I agree. From what I've seen so far, Webster is looking hungry and willing to bang down low for rebounds. Something he wasn't wanting to do 2 years ago. That is a great sign.

I'd love to have watched, but the games aren't being broadcast silly... hows your view from Connecticut?

anyhoo, thats just your opinion that the stats clearly disagree with. I'll side with the stats, the coach, most of the board, and my own eyes thanks.

stomp... webster is gonna start lol.

so you might wanna get your "stats" and rethink that.

and from "listening to the games"... webster has been our 2nd best player. batum has done nothing but SOUND lost just like the people that support him. LOST

not really... at the end of the day, a make is a make and a miss is a miss and these two are even at their rates of success. Because of a lack of of quality players when his career began, Martell got a ton of opportunities by default. Times have changed.

Down by 2 with 3 seconds left.... who would you rather take the 3...

    Batum or Webster?

That is so back asswards. Are you kidding me? So let's play a free-throw battle. I get to shoot 5 shots and you have to shoot 40. If I make all 5 and you miss 5, you will concede I am a much better free-throw shooter than you.

mags.. most of the posters on this board wanna hear the following.....

    1. HCP's daily "praise the blazers thread"

    2. Batum is the next Prince, has so much potential, should start....and is better then webster.

    3. Oden is a future hall of famer

    4. Miller has ruined the team

    5. Sergio has potential

    6. Outlaw is the new whipping boy (this one i kinda agree)

    7. Roy could kill kittens and would never be badmouthed.

    8. Aldridge will develop a post up game.... someday.

    9. Bayless is a future star but needs time.

    10. Its Nates fault when we lose.

Should you disagree... you will be a troll or called out. Thats basically what it is.

Wow, are you serious? I agree with 6 and 8. The others I have yet to see anything that would make me believe it. And anyone that thinks Sergio is great is a serious Sergio Homer. The only thing that kid will lead his team is turn overs, airballs and lack of finishing around the rim.

Well since you're ratio is all bass ackwards (seriously you think Martell took 8 threes for every one Nic took on a per game or per season basis?) and generating foul shots is a skill unto itself completely separate from the ability to shoot a jump shot from the perimeter, I'd say your analogy doesn't hold much water.

the point is that at 19 years old Nic played a mere 18 minutes per game and about half of his shots were three point attempts of which he made 37%, the worst you can say about Nic is that his sample size of three point shots isn't large enough to make a confident predicition about future success ... Martell's 3 healthy seasons have a plenty large sample and showed me that he's a pretty inaccurate "sharp shooter." Maybe that will change this year, but if I were a betting man I'd feel more confident in continuted success/improvement from Nic than I would a reversal of pretty mediocre shooting statistics from Martell.
