Other than being a 70's icon what purpose does this building really serve? I'm not saying tear it down, since that's now an impossibility, but as an arena it's obsolete. Factor in the new concert hall going up next door as part of the RQ renovations, the MC will become even more irrelevant. Keep the exterior and gut the interior. The possibilities are there.
I say we make it a huge monkey exhibit - put some fake trees and shit in there and about 200 monkeys. And maybe a couple of cheetahs to thin the monkey herd. barfo

This will never happen but now that it appears the beavers are headed to Beaverton. Tear the MC down and build a Major League Baseball stadium in it's place. There are a few teams that are on the brink of becoming available.
LA Live is the model the RQ is using as a template. Btw, MC is a good looking building. It could be A LOT worse. Like this monstrosity in New Jersey (which they STILL use)
I like the idea of a small bowl type stadium for football and soccer. PSU, UP, high schools and high school playoffs and maybe some day MLS. It could hold 20-25,000 and be a partial dome. Maybe even host some playoff games for schools like Linfield... We could still call it the MC.
Wouldn't they continue to use PGE for those types of events? Btw, I heard from a friend of mine that ESPN 'The Zone' might be apart of the RQ renovation.
What a dump! It is right smack in the middle of nothin but swampland! And right next to it is a huge indoor skiing facility! Weird as shit!
The Rose Quarter will now be known as "JUMPTOWN" Some of their work: Connected to the Philly Stadium, I would bet it's going to look a lot like this project. This would never get passed but the Oregon tribes wanted to confederate and put a casino in the Lloyd district. That would certainly make this area a 24/7 destination.
