Nikolokolus included Steve in his trade prop for Conley. So Conley would be Miller's backup for two years (perhaps less), then take over as the starting PG for a potential dynasty team including his buddy Greg. So...um, what's the problem again?

    Minutes and starting role?

    Don't think it won't matter.

If he's better than Miller, he'll get them. If he's not, then he'll earn them once he is. On the flip side, don't you think being mired in mediocrity in Memphis would get tiresome after a while? I imagine that being on a successful team would appeal to him.

We need another perimeter defender to go along with Batum IMO, preferably a defensive PG who can nail the three, distribute, run the break and harry opposing PG's. Our post defense of Aldridge/Oden/Przybilla would look fantastic if we didn't have such swiss chese perimiter D.

The true problem is that even when a player stinks, if they are a McMillan favorite, he will find a way for them to get into the game and stink it up. That's the way it was with Jarrett Jack. We had to trade him to get him off the fucking court. It will be that way with Steve Blake too until his contract runs out.

It may not bother him. I don't know Mike. He might be stoked about the idea. But..

Do you think he might earn a lil bigger contract mired in mediocrity as a starter rather than serving as a backup on a playoff team?

There's no guarantee of him starting in Memphis. Collins (ahem... Wallace/Heisley) have hinted at AI taking that starting spot.

Whom did you have in mind? The thread last week about perimeter defenders pretty clearly pointed out the severe lack of availability of such players.

And even if we could find someone, where (what position) would that player play on this team? PG is full, SG is full, SF is full (?).

    Ask Ramon Sessions about that.

    hahah makes sense to me!

Okay so YES!!! Outlaw needs to go or to be the 3rd string SF and NEVER play PF, or to be traded. Bottom line. 7th year in the league and Cunningham looks better than him. Sorry that he is a locker room buddy. But he has to go.

Howard is WAY better than him. Howard is a really good player and he has a LOT left in the tank. He was eating up K Mart last night. His on court leadership is something that only 16 years in the league can provide.

Yep, Conley is to me target #1 of achievable trades out there. I think you could definitely pry him from Memphis especially with OJ Mayo's stated desire to play PG. Possibly a three team trade with GS for S-Jax to MEM would get Memphis to jump. They love malcontent scorers who don't play defense.

I doubt it happens. Conley Sr. probably won't want it. We are stuck looking for veteran PGs that are hungry for titles.

Don't get me wrong, I would probably be Ok with that. And I know that Bayless+Blake+Outlaw is not a fascinating package for Memphis, I'm not sure they would even trade Conley for Rudy and those two... Since they acquired ZBo and AI, I have no idea anymore where they're going.

Now that's a good idea. The crazier it is for Memhis, the more likely they would go for it.

Yeah they bow wrapped Gasol for L.A. May have been the last homer L.A. thing Memphis could do though.

Conley is going to demand a big contract in two years. Add Oden, LMA, and Roy, and possibly Batum, and you're looking at a large chunk of cap space paid out to 4 or 5 players.

I'm not sure if bringing in another top-notch youngster makes a lot of sense financially projecting out 3-5 years.

I agree. I would also like to add, with young good talent comes some ego with it. That's why I like finding maybe 4 players max with larger contracts, and finding vets not too concerned with money and playing time to help fill the roles. We don't have to have everyone young.

Players can be replaced every 3-4 years.

We need to package him for a draft pick and an expiring. Not another key player. We don't need any key players.

Ammo is gonna blow up this year ... for sure ... well not exactly for sure, more like "for maybe" ... actually probably not "for maybe," probably more like "for no fucking way"

That said I'm not sure we can get him for just Trav we might also need to toss in a throw away player like Rudy or Przybilla.

If you trade him to Sacramento, he could be the worst PF on the worst team in the league.

Seriously though, there's certain to be situations where he'll be valuable on the court.
