Fred Hoiberg annouced his retirement from the game of basketball today at a press conference. It's a shame that he had to walk away from the game that he loved so early. However, he did it for the best interest in his family and I respect his decision. If there was even a slight risk he should have not play and that is what he decided not to do.Hoiberg is a class act and one hell of a basketball player. The guy would do whatever you wanted him to do and he would do it with passion. He could shoot with the best, play good defense and hustle his butt off for a loose ball. The guy not only played with his heart but also with his head. He was a special player and one was the glue that held that 2003-2004 team together.The Timberwolves offered him a spot in the front office and he is expected to take it. He will be working with Kevin McHale on player personal, most likely.
Yes..He was an underrated player that was solid in all aspects, he was a guy you would LOVE to have on your team..but he was just such a great shooter, and so underrated as a shooter.
Solid in all aspects? Come on. He was a good shooter. A great shooter in fact. I remember he led the league in 3pt% last year. Too bad about his bad heart.

He is a very smart player who moved well without the ball and made smart plays. He really couldn't create his own shot but he wasn't asked to. The guy was just a solid player.

Man i member in like nba live 05 i would always draft him in a fantasy draft thing or always play my friends with the Twolves and always run down and shoot it with him behind the arc baby!!
Hoiberg was the perfect definition of a smart basketball player. He had one of the highest basketball IQ's in the game, worked hard, never complained once about minutes, and is one of the best shooters I have seen in a while. I wish Fred luck.
