Wins over Houston and Denver in the first week of the season at home, and then we'll see the Nate for COY threads and everything will be fine and dandy. We are far from the firing Nate stage.

He'd be fired tomorrow if that was the case.

He only runs two plays for Pete's sake!

I keep seeing this "Roybe" moniker from some posters. What does it mean?

If the team got rid of Nate, Blake, and Outlaw, they would go 82-0 and sweep the playoffs as well.

You might be right... Actually if we just got rid of Outlaw and Blake Nate couldn't play them and it might save his Job ala Doc Rivers being on the hot seat coaching a terrible team til Ainge ponied up and got him some talent and a ring.

If the team starts Blake and Outlaw in Nate's offense, they would go 82-0 and sweep the playoffs as well.

    Nah, that's dumb.

If the team got rid of Nate, Blake and Outlaw, there would be 3 hindrances to our championship run that would be removed.

There, I stand behind that statement.

It's a reflection of the concern that Roy will become just another arrogant super-star - like Kobe. Will he still be the same level-headed, down-to-earth guy that he was before he got the mega-contract? Will he be jealous of Oden's expanding role?

It's the kind of angst the fans of every young star go through. When you talk about the notion of the locker-room turning on Nate, you are talking about Roy mutating into "Roybe".

I'm not saying it *will* happen - just that that is the only way Nate gets fired during the season.

I believe that Nate still has one "get out of jail free" card to play by helping a Portlander sing the national anthem when they fuck up!:ghoti:

Hopefully soon. I mean, god knows what happens when you don't listen to fans on a message board. (They are the most knowledgeable, of course.)

I don't know why people assume that someone is more knowledgeable about the NBA simply because they played the game. How many sports writers and journalists played in the NBA? How many played in college?

How many former players have failed miserably as coaches?

I'm not talking about the average news reporter or analyst.

This is the guy who has been coaching the actual team for the past four years, and hasn't done a shitty job at it.

oh my god that sentence is depressing.

no matter how crap we've been this preseason, we can't deny that we've come a long way...

You watch. Adelman is always underrated, and their GM gets good players. I think they'll make the playoffs.

Oh, OK. I still don't get it. Why try to alienate the best thing to happen to this franchise in at least a decade?

Criticize Miller, you're a "troll". This "Roybe" nonsense? Apparently intelligent commentary. :dunno:

I take the criticisms toward Nate McMillan from posters on this forum as the most accurate of NBA reports.

I work down from that point until I hit people actually affiliated with the league. :ghoti:

It's not who you criticize that gets you a troll moniker, but how you conduct your criticism and its perceived intent by the public body :)

Making a statement once and defending yourself against the assault of of disagreement is one thing (admirable if you ask me, check your rep), bringing up how unfair the label is, and how unjust the e-world is in every other thread is something completely different.

Unfair? good argument and I would agree with you there, tiresome on the 158th rehash? definitely... to the point of banality.

Intelligent commentary? More like venting an emotion. Anybody who follows sports has seen the depressing things money and celebrity can do to young players.
