I wanted to get people's takes on this...

One of the biggest bonuses of bringing Andre in, in my opinion, was his ability, willingness, and desire to coach up a young pg. This also seemed to be something the front office enjoyed hearing, as we heard it numerous times when Dre was first brought in.

My concern however, is that, its beginning to look like that guy is nowhere to be found on our roster, and, given that we're now expected to be one of the top teams in the league for the next 5-6 years, it doesn't seem apparent that that guy will be coming through the draft either.

With a roster of youngins: Roy/Rudy/Bayless, Nic/Travis/Martell, LA/Donte/Pen, Oden, and 3 seemingly promising young guys still in Europe, the one spot we seem to be missing is a young PG.

So my question is this... How do you think we'll deal w/ this over the next decade? I personally see a few possibilities.

    1. Trade- w/ us being arguably 4 deep w/ young PFs and SFs, and 3 deep at SG, it would seem that we SHOULD have enough assets to pry away a franchise type pg from someone (my current thought is Flynn in Minny).

    2. Band-Aid approach- We could potentially just keep bringing in the Andre Miller/Steve Blakes of the world to run this team, replacing one with the next as they age. This seems to me like it might continually wreak havoc on our momentum however.

    3. Draft and hope - With talents like Roy, Bayless (who will hopefully continue to climb up his learning curve) and Rudy, I suppose we wouldn't always HAVE to have a true PG on the floor. In the event that we don't land a franchise guy, I can see us trying to get by on shear talent while hoping we find a diamond in the rough. Not too sure I like this idea though... it reeks of overconfidence and seems like a recipe for disaster, or at least disappointment.

Any other ideas? All of this, of course, is assuming that Bayless doesn't develop into a PG, which I don't believe he will, and that Patty Mills is not the guy they see as the future, which I cannot imagine they do, or he wouldn't have to beat out 2 also-rans just for a roster spot that he doesn't appear to likely to be getting. Also assumes that Koponen is not in our future as our franchise guy.

    Thoughts?

We have two young guys on this roster. Bayless and Mills. One of them could be the answer.

I think the answer was supposed to be Lawson who we tried to trade up for but couldn't. Now it may be Mills, but I'm thinking that either by trade or draft next year we're going to get the PG Nate wants.

It appears as if Miller is too concerned with whining about not starting and jacking up shots at an incredible rate thus far.

I'm sure he'll get to the "mentoring" stage at some point.

Hopefully, Denver's 2010 #1 will be a much higher pick than ours. :ghoti:
