I think the candidates are Dirk, KG, Duncan or Elton Brand.Anyway, I hope this turns into a good debate between Mavs fans and others so here goes.I pick KG even though he may be having an off year, his percentages still are very high so it shows he is passing the ball more. He is still maybe the most versatile player in basketball. He can score from the top of the key with his jumper or muscle the ball downlow with his quick inside moves and finish with a throwdown or fadeaway-jay. He is an elite rebounder and bc of his lanky arms and athleticism he can get up higher then almost anyone. He is a very good defensive player, he guards the inside very well and uses his long arms to swat down balls like he is picking apples off a tree. His passing skills set him apart. He also has the ability to make his teammates better, he is unselfish and he is a very skilled passer. He is the best PF now since Duncan is regressing a tiny bit.I know Dirk and Elton have improved alot so this should make for a pretty good debate.
I'm biased, but Garnett is still one of the top 3 players in the league (Kobe, LeBron, KG). He is the best rebounder in the league, he is one of the best defenders in the league, he has range on his shot and he doesn't take bad shots. He is a smart player who does it all. He is a great leader and he plays with passion. He does it all.
Tim Duncan. He is a better defender than KG, more consistent, and his winning 3 titles, being MVP in each series, and KG only getting past 1st round once.....well, it ain't looking good for KG here.Dirk has been best this year, though.
How is Duncan more consistent than Garnett? Garnett is the definition of consistent. I'm not saying Duncan isn't, but Garnett isn't excatly erratic, either.

KG= 21 PPG, 11 RPG, 4.5 APG, and 1 BPG

If you go to him, you know what you will get. With KG, he seems to have staryed from his low post game, and has evolved into more of a jump shooting PF. he also doesn't take over games anymore, where when his team needs him, TD is always there. I agree, both are about as consistent as you get. With KG, you know every year he will be up there in double doubles and rebounds.

When healthy I put Amare right behind Duncan, Garnett and Dirk. 1. Garnett2. Duncan3. Dirk4. Amare5. Brand6. Pau7. Jermaine O'NealAnd there is no way Sheed is better than Dirk thats just rediculous..
NYK- I'd take KG, Duncan, Brand, Dirk, Amare healthy, Jermaine O'Neal, Pau Gasol, and Dwight Howard (if you consider him a PF) over Sheed anyday of the week.
i forgot about amare stoudemire. he's a force inside. ok dirk is better than sheed you all happy now?
