Re: Aldrigde and Blazers reach agreement

I'm so happy I finally have a typical style. I hope it's GQ grunge, that's what I was going for.

Sure. I don't think there's any real chance that a team would do that.

    Re: ALDRIDGE SIGNED!

I'd say there would have been a great chance for a team like NJ to offer him just as much if not more next offseason. He would have been a great fit there, and they probably would have known they weren't getting one of the top free agents, and went after him hard.

    Re: ALDRIDGE SIGNED!

I said if LMA plays the way I hope he does this season. That would be a stat line of 22+ ppg, 8+ rpb, 1.5 blks, 3 apg on nearly 50% shooting.

A player who put up those numbers would most assuredly get paid.

I never said it was likely but it most certainly is possible.

The other thread title is the one that should still be in the forum. Aldridge is not signed yet.

The first post makes it clear that it's an agreement, not a signing.

Keeping a whole other thread open on the basis of "agreement" vs. "signed" is fucking stupid.

I agree. I just think the thread title of the other one is much more accurate.

It would be like me starting a thread stating "McMillan no longer coach of the Blazers"

Whether that's in a year, or 10 years, it will at some point.

What people say publicly is often different than what goes on behind closed doors... this is not breaking news.

    Re: ALDRIDGE SIGNED!

I know. first question asked KP. His reaction was hilarious but I tried to phrase it in a way he could answer. I didn't ask him if he was going to sign LMA, all I asked him is if he thought I had made a good bet. Good times...

I am very happy Aldridge is signed, it was one of my biggest concerns heading into the year. As most of you have seen the last few games, if our big gunz aren't in the game, it gets real ugly fast. Like 2 years ago Blazers ugly. Aldridge helped dig us out of those nightmare years and deserved this extension very much.

    When did he sign?

He has only agreed to this point, correct? I know he will sign, but I was just wondering if I had missed it or something?

    Re: ALDRIDGE SIGNED!

Your question in response to my post appeared to be assuming that I thought Aldridge did not deserve this contract since his and David Wests numbers were almost identical. If I misinterpreted, my bad. I just wanted my opinion to be clear.

What a wonderful signing. Signings are awesome. It's so great to get Lamarcus signed, and signed even. I love a good signing. Signing. Signing. Signing. Now that he's signed we don't need to worry about him signing, or signing for that matter, because he's already signed.

    It's a pretty big difference.

One means either party can technically back out for any reason whatsoever.

The other means he is signed.

You take a car for a test drive with the intention of buying it, but get in a wreck on the test drive. You don't have to buy that car.

You sign your name for the car, and drive it off the lot and crash the car, it is your car.

You are standing at the altar in front of God and everyone and you fiance doesn't show up. You don't have to give her half of your stuff.

You get married, have sex with the maid of honor and your wife divorces you. You have to give her half your stuff.

You go through 4 years of high school with straight A's and leave 1 credit short of graduating. You go to a Junior college.

You graduate from high school with stright A's and you go to Stanford.

I am 99.9% certain he will sign, but he hasn't yet.
