With a few trade ideas floating around... I think this one is the best option.

I LOVE mock trade ideas, so if you are one of those people who do not like them, then just don't read this thread!!!!!

This is a refined trade idea from the one in my sig. Here we go!

    ---------------

    http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5259542

    Joel\Outlaw\Rudy for Okafor\Collison

I didn't want to trade Rudy, but I felt it was the only way that NO would do the deal. I like this because we get a great defensive minded PF\C with a contract for a few years already, so we don't have to worry about losing him. He can backup either LMA or Oden, whoever needs a break or fouls out.

I liked Collison a lot for a backup PG\Prospect player to fight with Mills for PT in a couple years. Either him or Mills will be ready in a couple years once Miller and or Blake leaves us.

I think they would do it because they get 3 starter quality players (well 2 and a 6th man) and they really need to rebuild. They basically give up 1 starter and a prospect for 3 guys who could start if they wanted to.

This also opens up plenty of PT for Bayless, who I think is ready to play a little more this season. Also, Martell can play more of his natural position, 2.

    We become...

    Miller\Blake\Mills\Collison
    Roy\Bayless\Webster(3)
    Batum\Cunningham(4)
    LMA\Pendergraph(5)
    Oden\Okafor(4)

    They become...

    Paul\Brown
    Rudy\Peterson
    Peja\Wright
    West\Outlaw
    Joel\Hilton\Marks

    --

Best I can think of for right now.

That would be a beast of a frontline. And Collison, how has he looked?

yah lets help a western team that we could see in the playoffs giving our 2 best bench players away. perfect.

maybe we could sneak in roy and get rasul butler

why in gods name would we ever trade rudy or pryz? how about trading crap like outlaw, bayless, cunningham or even blake etc? thats how you clear minutes. hell i would trade batum for the right guy but rudy or pryz.... umm no.

I like Okafor, and while I think a rotation of Greg, Lamarcus and Emeka would be a pretty hefty amount of beef in the front court, we'd still be completely overloaded with point guards and I'm not especially bullish on Collison as a pro. The other problem is that New Orleans just traded for Okafor and I can't envision them trading him away without at least getting half of a season to see how he plays with his new team.

I'd say this trade idea is a decent step in the right direction (trying to consolidate multiple players for fewer players) but the composition of the trade is just a little off IMO.

According to "fit," contract, and any other subjective measure I can think of, off the top of my head, I'd rather have Joel than Okafor (especially when we already have Oden and Aldridge, as well)... and I'd MUCH rather have Rudy and Travis over Collison.

I'd pass on that trade "idea" without even thinking twice about it.

I don't think Okafor would be a worthwhile PF, so I don't see it as that great of an option for us. I would ideally like to find someone who could back up both spots, to shorten the rotation a bit.

Okafor is actually more miscast as a center than as a power forward where he doesn't give up so much height and he's considerably more effective from the 4 spot (in terms of PER differential at least). He's a good rebounder, a good post defender (at both spots), but only average offensively.

The only potential trouble I could see is if he was on the floor with Greg, where the two players occupy the same space around the basket ... that and he's a 13 million a year guy so you'd be foolish to play him anything less than 30 minutes a night, which I tend to think would hamper Oden's development. Who knows though, it could be one helluva a three player rotation. :dunno:

Okafor has $62mil left on his deal for the next 5 years.

LOL @ the thought of him backing up Aldridge/Oden.

Sorry, guess I was thinking as a PF for our team. So, as you said, alongside oden. When i look at a backp to play both slots for us, I look at someone who would fit well alongside LMA, and alongside Oden. And i can see him and LMA pairing up alright, but not him and Oden, which is why I said as a PF. Although i wouldn't look at that PER differential as a good read of his ability, with the 1% of PF time he logged. That's like 2.5 minutes a game. Przybilla has a 31.8 PER differential at the PF slot, but I wouldn't say he woudl be better off as a PF. He's a quarter inch shorter than Dwight Howard, and I don't think HE'S miscast as a C because of his height.

certainly the spacing on offense wouldn't be so great when EO is teamed with Greg, but I love any combo of those 3 Bigs on the other end. Hard to quibble too much about a hypothetical deal when your rooting interest fills a roster need with the best player exchanged. Okafor is 27 this coming year, has a career PER of 17.7, and is signed through 2013-14 (5 more seasons).

Though teaming Rudy with Paul gives the Hornets arguably the best backcourt in the league (they're really lacking at SG), I'm not feeling it as much on their end. Maybe throw in Joel Freeland to sweeten it just a touch more.

Well yeah, i like what it does for us on the defensiev end, but we could play Joel and Oden together and get the same results. No spacing on offense, two good shot blockers and rebounders on defense, and not enough speed out of either(Joel or Okafor) to cover any perimiter oriented bigs.

Why does anyone think Rudy is "untouchable"? What has he done that warrants that statement? He's a liability on defense and if his shot is off he is completely worthless. Batum will always be a force on the defensive end and his shot is improving. For THIS TEAM there is no question Batum is more valuable. Just sayin

I don't think you can make trades with WNBA teams.

My reason for trading Pryz is because I truly think that he is going to leave us next year, and I do not want to make the same mistake that we did with RLEC and let something valuable walk away for free.

Do you really think that Joel is going to stay with us next year? Really?

That is also a concern I had, if he would come off the bench. But between GO and EO for injuries, there would be plenty of time to play.

Why would we keep Collins? He couldn't even beat out an injured PG to make the team.

I agree. For this team, Batum is ten fold better than Rudy.

    Too much for too little.

New Orleans comes away a far better team than us.

Voluntarily pairing Rudy with Chris Paul? Are you out of your mind?
