it was easier to score in? The era we are in now or back in the day?Consider this- Now with the hand checking rules defenders are giving less powers and cannot "touch" the players like they used to. This gives the offensive player and easier path to the basketball- Zone defense have been allowed, this allows the opposition to contain a certain player more easily. If used, each each player is giving a ceratain place on the court to guardHowever back in the day, Defenders were giving more room to breath with the hand checking rules, it was not illegal like it is now. Zone defenses were illegal also, so it showed who was individually the better defenders. So which era was/is harder to score in? Discuss..

MUCH easier to score in Wilt's era. Smaller players, no three point line, smaller foul line, no shot clock, and Wilt was so tall. Wilt was great and all, but I bet if he played in our time he wouldn't average 55 points and <Censored>, it'd probably be reduced to about 40 ppg. still <Censored> amazing lol.

I think its easier to score in our era, because with the exception of a couple of players in the NBA nobody even plays defense really anymore. Also the call touch to many touch fouls today! Free throws are what makes peoples scoring averages so high

I'm not talking about wilt's era, i'm talking about the 70's and 80s. Sorry if i didn't clarify it properly.I know those touch fouls suck. However consider the fact of the pace in the 80s, the 20 more possesions and zone defenses being illegal.Consider the fact that teams like the lakers put up 118ppg.

For guards today is the easiest time to score, but before the 03 Season it was all big men. Probably the easiest time to score is now. Theres 3 guys with over 30 PPG and Gilbert has something like 29.1 PPG the last time I checked. It's pretty crazy.

Overall scoring is down look at PPG for the leauge. Then again the game has slowed down, but everyone knows scoring aint what is used to be.The zone defense isn't implemented that much. There's no way to say which era was better but if you're trying to compare two players it would be much easier to compare the competition than to compare the rule changes and use stats and what not.I always say stats only tell half the story.
