See, in the late 60s, there were several cultural revolutions going on, like black integration, sexual revolution, anti-war movement, and drug use. Black militants coined the word "honkey" to mean "caucasian." On the Dick Cavett Show, Cavett called himself a funky honkey, and guest James Brown ("Papa's Got a Brand New Bag"), who shrieked his songs in a very black style, nearly fell over laughing at Cavett's self-derision.
