Why does this feel like an SNL skit that has outlived it's comedic value? First it was Maris, then it was PapaG, now it's Kingspeed. All we need now is for Mixum to join in on this Miller bashing and the Fantastic Four will have joined forces for the first time in S2 history. Maybe we could bring back OIG and complete the Fab Five.
Uh huh. Or maybe the Kings did like 90% of NBA teams do in the final game of the preseason and they rested their starters or played them very few minutes. But I will say this, Beno Udrih sucks hard enough that I can see him actually ceding minutes to Sergio at times this season ... overall I expect Sergio to be the player he's been for most of the past three years; a high assist rate, high turnover rate, low shooting %, poor defensive point guard who can adequately run a team's offense, but typically yields too many turnovers and commits too many defensive lapses to be counted on to be anything other than a replacement level player. Best of luck to Chacho.
oh please dont start the sergio shit. thats all we need is to hear is that little pukes name when we have our own major PG problems
The box score says that Kevin Martin has a sprained wrist, so if what you speculate is true, someone is lying. Notice that Sergio's 11 assists almost equaled the 12 assists of the entire Thunder team. The point is that he isn't as buried under Tyreke and Beno as his detractors on this board keep labeling him. ("He's the worst PG on the worst team.") It's a fluid situation, and he helped himself tonight by outplaying the other 2 PGs. When given minutes, he acquits himself at least as well as the other 2. He's proving to be at least their equal. I realize they're bad, but the point is, tonight shows that he won't remain fixed at 3rd PG. Then you'll only be able to say, "He's on the worst team." In fact if they keep blowing out the Thunder you'll have to change even that.
Some people here are, IMO, unnecessarily anti-Sergio. He's big and relatively young and he is a very good passer. He didn't do much with Portland to earn playing time, but it wouldn't surprise me if/when he gets regular minutes if he's a solid starter. I'm not saying we ought not have traded him--and the characterization that we paid to get rid of him is inaccurate, given that we moved up in the second round, too--but that doesn't mean that he sucks as a prospect. Ed O.
I wish Sergio nothing but the best, but we traded him. He is no longer a Blazer. We've traded many other players. I think the only reason anyone still brings him up is to fuck with the few posters who keep implying (directly or, mostly, indirectly) that he will someday become some hall of fame PG. If their level of delusion wasn't so mindboggling, his name would rarely be mentioned on this board, kinda like Jarrett Jack.
I don't know...iirc last year about this time there was some regular update on Jack and how he was doing. I think there's at least some care to what goes on when Blazers get traded, at least at first. Heck, how many times is Z-bo still brought up?
If you can go the season without mentioning Sergio again, I will buy you a pair of tickets to 3 games of your choice next season.
