Who wants to help design a "41-41" Blazers shirt for the Portland stop of my book tour? Can we fit a drawing of Andre Miller sulking on it?
about 4 hours ago from UberTwitter

    He's asking for it now.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
    Don't feed the trolls?

It's amazing...people like Simmons say things like this purely to get angry responses and lots of readership and attention, and people decide "I'll show him! I'll follow him obsessively and give him LOTS of attention! That'll teach him to say things to try to get attention!"

It's remarkable how effective media trolls are, people never get tired of being riled up. ESPN must love him and the readership he brings.

minstrel is right. Plus, if we weren't relevant, he'd be making his pot-shots about the team drafting high schoolers, or jail blazers, etc. All this negative press, about the teams potential, is because we now matter and teams, fans, and writers, know it.

Does he trot out relative drivel regarding the Lakers or such?

In his mind, we stole Oden from his rightful place in the Boston Garden. He just can't get over him, therefore the Blazers own Simmons.

Last year they were really snakebitten by the injury bug, but the Clips now have some talent at every position. Especially if Baron is right I don't see 45-37 as outside the realm of possibilities. Gordon flashed some solid skills and athleticism as a rook, Kaman is back and Griffin should be a passable starting 4. I'm a big believer in defense from the frontcourt though, and they don't seem to have much... 500 is probably more like it.

Although I agree that the Clippers are (finally) stacked and should be primed for a strong season, when was the last time something didn't happen to them that caused them to collapse?

I hope they don't, I secretly like the Clippers, but it's almost like an expected experience.

Simmons probably hates us simply because everyone else loves us. Trying to go against the grain.

I think he gets enough hate-mail from Blazer fans that he probably enjoys getting us riled up. Nobody else predicts Portland to fall out of the playoffs. The only thing to do now is succeed, and turn him into Steven A. Smith... Well, that might be wishful thinking.

Being a former Sonics fan, and now someone who would like to see the Blazers do well (due to their Seattle ties), I gotta admit it's a little funny that Portland has freaked out so much about this. I wouldn't worry about what Simmons says. This is a guy who also predicted the Mavericks to beat both the Nuggets AND Lakers last year on their way to the finals. He spews predictions like this all the time...about 1 in 15 ever pan out.

By the way, I found you guys a 41-41 shirt.

Bill Simmons is funny. That article was funny. The parts about the Blazers were funny. The way to be funny is to overstate your point. It's not supposed to accurate precisely, just vaguely so, like a cartoonish Matisse painting. Writing humor is an art.

I can't believe this idiot is bringin his book tour to Portland. Some fuckin nerve. I won't be able to make it up there, but I hope some of you guys go and give him the business!!! This east coast Blazer hater is obviously still bitter about the '07 draft, and I don't think he should be shown any mercy whatsoever. FUCK BILL SIMMONS. He thinks it's satire, we see through it. The idea about bringin the Richard Simmons book is BRILLIANT!! Please my Blazer brothers and sisters, don't let this clown feel welcome in Portland. If I could be there I WOULD but I can't!! I don't want the "sports guy" (lo fucking l) to ever feel welcome in Portland again. BLAZERS FOR LIFE!!!

    An art? Yes, it is.

Sometimes Simmons wields his paintbrush with exquisite skill. Other times, he shoves crayons up his butt, and rubs it across the canvass like a dog with worms.

A comedian that wants to stay around needs to reinvent himself. I enjoyed Simmons in the past - but it's getting to be the same old same old. I already read most of his jokes before. Time for new ones.

The way this team is playing its starting to make Bill Simmons look like the Nostradamus of the NBA.

It's usually around this time each season that the pessimists start looking pretty clever. This goes for a lot of teams other than Portland, btw.
