I have a PS3 that is basically solely used as a BluRay player (I don't have time to play Madden or 2K anymore). However, I've just started realizing that there's a browser on there, and I can visit sites like this one and espn. However, anytime I try to download a show (like House) off of Hulu, I'm told it doesn't work. Googling only tells me that it can't work, but I'd like to ask the type of guys who jailbreak iphones if there's a way to watch movies, tv shows, netflix/blockbuster, justintv, etc on the HD of my PS3. I'm pretty techy, so you can use big words. Thanks in advance.
I've watcehd Blazer games using justintv or atdhe.. i forget which one. As far as shows and stuff I've never tried it, so can't help you there. I don't think it works becuase you dont have a typical web browser, and you can't download things like quicktime or windows media player.
No there is no way you can download vids like that onto your PS3 to watch them, mainly due to needed plug-ins that you can't install on your PS3. Justin.TV does work. For movies I usually DL a torrent on my PC and tranfer them over to my PS3 on a jump drive. It plays all kinds of AVI files, but not the open source MKV files that are out there. I usually wait for a BR rip and they compress it and they are usually 1.5GBs for the DL. There's no way to "jailbreak" your PS3 since the firmware is very hard to crack and modify. There is a way that you can stream it on your PC and then stream it to your PS3 with a program called TVersity. I'm not real familiar with it, but I know there are thousands of PS3 users that use it to watch vids and stream music from their PC to their PS3. Edit: I went to go find you a link on a forum that I visit, and I guess there's something new out there called Java PS3 Media Server. Check it out at PS3Forums. This guy made a tutorial how to get your PC-->PS3 stream working. It looks a lot cleaner than TVersity. With this you could probably stream Netflix to your TV. Good luck.
Another thing to consider and I plan on doing: If you have the older "fat" system, you have the ability to install Linux on it, which will allow you to essentially view any video you want through firefox. This is my plan for the Blazers streaming. I already contacted support and they said the RayV won't work on the PS3 browser.
