Of course not, I'm just talking trash. I thought that's what was happening here. Matt Cassell is a very mediocre QB though.
Seriously, how can you tell? He did really well in a good system and w/ weapons. He's done really bad (bot not that bad) in a bad system with no weapons. I think that would be the case for most QBs.
I'll tone down the trash-talking and say that I have not been very impressed by him. I think you can tell a lot about a QB when they're in crappy situations. I look for composure, accuracy, and pocket awareness. Even when his O-line's given him good protection (it's happened on occasion), he hasn't show much of any of those. He gives up on plays too early and misses open receivers downfield.
Wow. I thought that was a beautifully thrown ball, but that was an incredible play on the ball for the interception.
I'll amend that last statement. Really beautiful passes are the ones that only the receiver can make a plan on. Eli needed to lead Manningham a little better. On the other hand, Manningham should've boxed Rodgers-Cromartie out on that play a little better.
Mario Manningham is so skilled. I can't wait until he gets some more experience and refinement. He could be a very talented WR.
Eli played poorly (he seemed more flustered at the line and his pre-snap reads were too slow or non-existent). But his receivers didn't create very much separation last night. The Card loaded the box to stuff the run game and played man coverage against our WR's, and it worked. Our young receiving core has done a good job of disproving the doubters so far this season, but last night they validated a lot of the concerns people had about them coming into this season. Our offensive skill positions are talented but need a lot of experience. Going forward the Giants need to focus on getting the ball to Steve Smith. He might be young, but he's the most seasoned of our WR's (an excellent route runner, good blocker, great hands, secures the ball). Next week's game against the Eagles is huge. Even though they're recovering from injuries still, the Giants don't want to surrender too much of their division lead going forward.
