Just for a week. I feel bad for him because he's missing the first week of the season, which is some great posting weather. Next time he should shoot for a suspension sometime in August.

Good plan. I think one of my off season goals for next summer will be to get banned for the entire month of August. Kind of like surgery - get it over during the off season so you will be ready to go come opening night.

So the word is (from him directly) that he was told by the doctor that as long as he could tolerate the pain he could keep playing. This Doctor is the team doctor for the Dodgers and is apparently one of the top shoulder experts in the world. It has been nagging him but he's been playing through it. On Sunday he jolted it during practice (Oden Pick) and that was the last straw.

This is all info from Nico's blog.
