Travis had a strong showing! Greg went nuts on the defensive end! Miller flashed his signature alley-oop! Martell is back and looks better than ever! We are undefeated!
some quick points.... i highlighted the bad! still no inside game 25 + turnovers is laughable for a NBADL team 12 blocks!!!!! thats the bright spot. oden still sucks on offense foul trouble for our bigs... yet again. same ole story outlaw played a very good game. bet i dont say that 5 more times this year. he kinda saved us. gag gag gag webster looks great and ive already forgotten batum miller is soooooo much better then blake. if blake isnt making threes... hes worthless brooks still owns us. god blake must hate him. although he killed miller too. rocket announcers were awful how did we blow a 20 point lead to that team? we should have been playing howard and bayless in that last 10 minutes. that rockets team AS IS.... has no chance IMO at the playoffs. they will have trouble scoring. shane looks old. if we dont improve a lot by thursday... the nuggets will eat us alive. however with a win... we might start 4-0. should beat the rockets and okc... i would hope.
Miller shot 100% from 3 point land. And people say he can not shoot from outside! The game was on KGW - so we could actually see it! 82-0 here we go.
I think you want the depressive thread a couple down from here, this is the manic thread. back on topic: OMG Oden with 5 shoulda been 6 blocks hopefully the NBA will revise it. Martell is an ustoppable force, Outlaw unconcious from all over the court, Miller the next Miller....AAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Also - Sergio still with 0 turn-overs this season. I know that he is not really a Blazer, but some people did not get the memo - so I am happy for them!
The real positive tonight? Even though the team was out-of-sync, they managed to win by playing agressively (most of the game). They didn't let foul trouble, turnovers, or some shakey shooting get them down emotionally.
Yeah, I really liked that they were trying to attack the hoop aggressively and defend the hoop aggressively. It created a very bipolar performance...at times they looked utterly amazing (dunks, wide open threes, blocked shots, steals), at times they looked inept (fouls, turnovers). I think they have the skill to make such aggression work for them, so I'm hoping/thinking that the cavalcade of fouls and turnovers were the result of not yet being polished playing together.
It seems that there were a lot of dunks and layups, and our 3-pt-shooting wings were hitting them. I think that goes along with my dead-horse philosophy that we haven't been getting enough of those 3 to be effective if our jumpers are off. Today, even with Roy's poor shooting, we were getting dunks, 90% FTs (though only 22), and shot 47% from 3. That's a recipe for wins.
Totally agree. Yes, it got hairy down the stretch, but I think a lot of folks underestimate the ability of that small, scrappy Rockets team. We were frantically running with them through most of the 4th, giving them plenty of shots and lots of opportunities to chip away at the deficit. That kind of pace is exactly what a team who is down by double digits wants! Then, with a few minutes to go and only a 6 point lead, I saw a dramatic shift in the poise, patience, and defense of the team -- something clicked, and they started playing smarter basketball. This was a perfect opener, imo: win AND get a free learning opportunity!
