Obviously not the time for trade talk, but after the Stephen Jackson talk in the Batum thread and Prince's name being brought up a lot, i thought this was an interesting nugget

I don't know about you guys, but aside from Gerald Wallace or Caron Bulter, he is one of my biggest choices to upgrade the 3.

You have to look at that very seriously if he is available. He can defend, he is very efficient, he is almost a point forward in capabilities, but he doesn't demand too many shots. He has championship experience. What else can you ask for?

I would give up Blakey and one of TO or Webs along with a 1st rounder!

I'd love for it to be either Outlaw/Bayless or Outlaw/Blake/1st, either way I think we'd be set to compete really hard this year for a championship and our IQ would raise a ton (with the net effect of losing Outlaw and getting Prince).

I like Outlaw and Blake for Prince. Maybe throw in Dante Cunningham as well...oh and maybe Mediocore Man too. :devilwink:

Fixes everything except eliminates our backup SF and backup PG. Adds an overpaid backup PF.

    Miller/Rudy/Bayless
    Roy/Rudy
    Prince/Roy/Rudy
    Aldridge/Maxiell
    Oden/Przybilla

Still going to be a really good lineup, but it puts a lot of minutes, IMO, on Roy. Rudy is experiencing back problems in the preseason. If he goes down, which is a decent possibility, we have nobody on the bench to backup the 1, 2, or 3 outside of Bayless. Ouch.

I WOULD have liked this a couple of years ago, but it just seems to me that Tayshaun's production has fallen off a cliff. Show me some recent stats that make him better than sub-average for his position. Go on--that's a challenge!

We all believe that one day Batum will be Prince-like. I think that they passed each other going in opposite directions sometime this Summer.

Looks good don't forget about Batum in the depth chart. I really like Maxiell as a hustle backup PF... One thing to remember is that Prince doesn't score as much as Outlaw so we will need to be sure that Rudy is ready to pick up his scoring into the high teen's.

    Miller/Rudy/Bayless
    Roy/Rudy
    Prince/Batum/Rudy
    Aldridge/Maxiell
    Oden/Przybilla

Your post inspired me. Why not move S-jax for Golden State, unload salary for Detroit and get Prince for Portland and only give up Blake, Przybilla, Outlaw and a rookie?

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yzz5mgk

    PG Miller/Bayless/Roy
    SG Roy/Rudy/Martell
    SF Prince/Martell/Roy
    PF LMA/Wright/Turiaf/Howard
    C Oden/Turiaf/LMA

You are essentially trading Przybilla (likely leaving after next season due to $$$) and Blake for Prince (I think that's fair) and Outlaw and Dante Cunningham + Cash and picks for Wright and Turiaf.

Not sure any party would go for it, but I like it. I'm sure I'll be crucified for hypothetically trading Przybilla again.

Prince used to be appealing. He seems to be losing a step.

I mean, last years playoffs he was atrocious!

    3.8 PPG
    1.3 RPG
    26% from three
    20% from the field
    32.3 MPG

    I'd pass.

Yeah.. I'd pass on Prince as well. I do wonder though if Battier could be had for cheap with Houston going in the tank. He'd be nice to come in off the bench as a defensive stopper.

15 PER last year, 110 DRTG, 2.5 DWS (Martell's was 1.7 in his last healthy season, just for comparison)

Shoots threes about as well as Batum and Webster so far. But he is 7 years older than Webster and 9 years older than Batum.

Martell's DRTG was also 110, exactly the same as Prince's.

I am NOT saying Webster is better than Prince, just to clarify. I know he is not.

Prince is most valuable on very good teams. He played poorly because he was forced to step up and contribute after Sheed and Billups left. Just like Ariza, he's not meant to be a focal point of any offense. So that's why I think he'd be perfect here. Tayshaun is another of of those guys that does many things that don't show up on the statsheet and has high basketball IQ.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Prince and Battier are both nice role-players, as is Ariza. I generally have no problem with adding quality players, even if it is surplus at a position, but my problem with all three of them is that they aren't enough of an upgrade on Batum, if at all, to be worth trading away significant players at other positions. Granted, Batum's not available right now, but it seems reactionary to make a major trade to cover for a player who will quite possibly be back mid-season.

If Houston or Detroit would accept Outlaw or Webster for Prince or Battier, then I'd be all for it. Move one small forward for another that fits better and when Batum returns and if he develops as I think he will, then Prince or Battier can slide into the backup slot that Webster or Outlaw would have occupied. But I doubt Prince or Battier could be had for that low a price.

If Portland is going to make a major move at small forward, I'd rather they aimed for a clear upgrade...someone who's well above Batum now and can expect to be better than Batum for at least a few years. Someone like Caron Butler or Gerald Wallace.
