I saw the reaction on this board of our opening night WIN the other night. We led the whole game and won by what, nine? I can only imagine what it will be like on here after we squeeze one out past Denver. I predict we win by 3 points and this pace will be crazy! Glad I'll be working and not be able to hear all the Blazer bashing on here. How will you react to a close win or god forbid we lose. Go Blazers!

I don't need to see blowouts to be happy, but I do need to see the team make better use of Oden offensively to feel confident that this team is trying to build toward an ultimate goal of championship basketball.

I'd love to see a win, but if that doesn't happen and the team at least makes a concerted effort to get an inside-out attack going against the Nuggs I won't be happy per se, but I will at least be satisfied that they are committing to improving in an area where they are going to need to be able to get production in about six months in order to have success.

I understand where you are coming from, but I'm one of those "a win is a win" kinda guy. Nobody in April looks back and says that this win means less then this one or more then the other. Of course I want these guys clicking on all cylinders, but I'll take a poorly played win over a well played loss any day!!!!

My question you jackholes is are you going to support your team or freak out like last night? What will your reaction be to a loss if it was so negative on here for a win.

im definitely a win is a win guy and have no desire to dwell on the minute details of every second of the game - although the amazing professional attitudes and diehard perfect knowledge of our resident armchair coaches often keeps me reading.

All hell will break loose when we lose our first game. But this team still has a lot to work on and I think everyone knows that -- it's just some people choose to convey that in their own unique way.

I'd be very happy with any type of win tomorrow since it is against a very good ball club in the Nuggets.

If we lose, I'd be disappointed, but won't flip out.

Agreed. I'll take any win tomorrow. And I'd be real bummed if we lose a division game at home against our biggest rival.

I remember the Blazer Laker playoff game had to be moved to Vegas because of the riots!

I'm curious if you find any constructive criticism of the team negative and the product of 'haters' because you work closely with the team or you're naturally a homer.

First of all I am a fan of the game of basketball. Second I grew up in NE Portland the child of Blazermaniacs, thus I became one. Lastly I am now an employee. I can critique with the best of them and am a fan of constructive criticism. But the way people on here freak out and bitch about things offends me as a die hard life long Blazer fanatic, not a Blazer employee.

I would say the people who freak out are very limited, but those who offer constructive criticism on things we need to work on to reach the ultimate goal of a championship are often called haters for no apparent reason. I would say about 4-5 people out of 50-75 of us who are here freak out at every little thing and make a big chicken little storm about it, and in comparison that is a very small ratio. I would also say that people who are offering constructive criticism are often getting lumped into this category of 'haters' at a whim and it is getting tiresome.

Many of us have high expectations not only for the team but for individual aspects... the team can win and NOT fulfill all of the individual hopes/expectations we have.

One example: many of us want Oden to get more than 10 touches in a game. The team won--and won handily--but we didn't like that part of the win.

Another example: some of us want the Blazers to run more than they do. The team can win 86-76 and although that is a sizable win differential, some people will be a bit upset we didn't even get to 90.

Further, I think with Houston that some people on this board just assume they'll suck. They think Andersen is a total stiff, and that Budinger barely belongs in the NBA, and that (like Barkley said) the Rockets are going to have the worst record in the West... well Andersen had six points in seven minutes last night, Budinger had 11 in 17 minutes, and the Rockets won in Golden State... so maybe those guys (and the team) aren't quite as bad as many of us thought and the Blazers win was more impressive than at first glance.

The bottom line: the team can't make everyone happy, especially early in the year when we all have our own expectations for the players, the coach, and the opponents that don't have a tremendous amount of factual support. As we get farther into the season things should settle down a bit.

Since Denver doesn't resemble an NBDL team I will be very happy if we eek out a victory. If we go up by 20 and let them come back in the fourth, in our building, I won't be as happy. If we lose I will be upset because there is no reason to lose to a team at home when they are on the second half of a back to back.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect fewer than 26 turnovers in a game, and I don't think it's unreasonable to be unhappy with the team's carelessness in that regard.

I also don't think it's unreasonable to expect better than 5-18 from our star, or to expect our team's prior year assist leader to feed the ball to our team's franchise center once in a while.

I think it's important to differentiate from criticisms which are legitimate and those which are unfounded or irrational.
