Today I paid for vBulletin 4.0. It's not available for download yet, still in beta. When it does become available, I will try the upgrade on a test server and if all goes well, will upgrade the live S2 site. Here's some screen shots of vb4 without any theme like the ones we have here: http://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=screenshots And here's a list of features: http://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=features We're getting the publishing suite version, so everyone can have a blog and that sort of thing. I'll keep you informed when I know more about the availability. I expect it to be a nice upgrade for our experience here.
That looks very slick. Congrats on raising the funds for this. Look forward to the upgrade. I can see it now, "THE" HCP's daily blog.
Denny Crane, please please please tell me that when you ignore a poster on this new version, you will NOT see the threads started by said ignored poster. THAT in itself would be awesome, and force me to send a 12 pack of mirrorpond your way.
If you use Firefox, you can use this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7023 It allows you to block users in forums and it renders invisible their posts, threads and even quotes other people do of them. (I haven't tried this, so I can't attest to how good it is. Just going by its description.)
Holy crap that mod worked flawlessly! Right click, go to FFVB management - Ignore user, POOF all posts, threads, etc GONE.
Not only will I check it out, I'll click on it. Does that help you out with more sales? This site has been good to Blazers fans, let's help out DC if we can . . .
How will it work on a Blackberry Curve? It's pretty cumbersome now, will there be better mobile-friendly settings in the new software?
Appreciate the sentiment. I do hope our advertisers do well, but I'm not allowed to suggest people click on the links or banners. To me the benefit will be integration of CMS and blogs and all that with the forums. I realize a lot of people like just forums, but if you hang here a lot, the new features will give us all more toys to play with. I don't know about any mobile features. I didn't read about any on their site, though it's a great idea. You do know about the archive link at the very bottom right of each page? That renders the site without graphics and is pretty good for browsing on handhelds.
