Sure you didn't mean there's no such thing as a bad loss?

Is that before or after we make a thread (even if it's in jest) talking about trading Greg for Lopez?

    I agree with you, however.....

The Blazers better be a lot better than they were the other night when they play the Nugs because Denver played a very good game against Utah for this early in the season last night.

We should be able to win but we better bring it. Denver looks focused this year and on a mission. I hope we match their intensity and physicality.

Here's a brief recap if we win:

    Mediocre Man: Nate sucks
The world won't end, but Andre Miller shot too much, Travis was awesome, Sergio would've single handily end world hunger, and Greg Oden didn't get enough shots.

Houston does not resemble an NBDL team, either. They beat Golden State on the road as the second half of a back-to-back, and they have some real talent. They probably won't make the playoffs but are a mediocre NBA team, rather than a bad one, even with Yao and McGrady out.

You are certainly entitled to your opinions, but I think your expectations are too high and view of other teams might be a bit distorted.

What expectations of mine are too high? I only ask because that is the first time someone has accused me of that one.

Seriously, why do you have a Lakers' Championship ring as your avatar? Who did you lose a bet to?

Ed O has done the best job laying things out. The team can win, but if my player (Martell Webster for me) doesn't do well, I will be displeased.

We'll see! I'm working and won't be able to check this place out til around midnight. I wonder which one of you will call for Nate's head, a trade of Travis or jumps off a ledge first. Somebody make a poll about who's gonna go crazy first!

This all comes down to whether you are happy with a team that just beats most of the teams in the league, but never wins a championship, or you believe the team should be capable of more. To win a championship you have to play at a higher level. It is very rare that a team wins a championship and does not demonstrate that level of play throughout the season. Not fracking up and dropping 27 turnovers against one of the teams that will be one of the worst in the league this year. On the bright side of things, the Blazers won a game that they fracked up that badly in. The point being, that most of us who are criticizing the team for the said performance, know that they cannot beat a good team if they play like that. Good teams perform at a consistently high level all season long. That is why they are good. Not up one game and down the next. If you play every game hard and with focus, it makes it natural for a team to play that way. You expect it every night.

When the LA Lakers/Boston Celtics roll into town do you expect them to drop 27 turnovers, ever? No. Because good teams make it a war every night, and if you don't bring it they kick your fracking teeth in. You know your team has to bring its best effort to beat them, because of who they are and how they play every night. If Portland ever wants to get to that level, they have to play that way. Every game. That is how you become feared and respected.

Great points. I'm not questioning anybody's passion for this team, it just blows me away how negative people are being about a team they supposedly love. You have to support this team through good times and bad, ups and downs. Like I said before, i have no problem with criticism or complaints, it's just how some people do it that confuses me.

Does that make Clevland a NBDL team? :D

Maybe "expectations" was the wrong word.

The Blazers are not that much better than other teams in the West--even non-playoff teams--and I don't think that losing to a good Denver team at home--even with the other team on a back-to-back--would be that much of a surprise.

Hopefully I'm wrong and the team IS that good, so I should share your analysis :)

Oh my goodness do you have me wrong.

I don't think the Blazers are nearly as good as most people. I do think, however, that they are fairly equal to Denver and should be able to beat them at home with an extra day to prepare. If not, I won't be shocked, but still upset that they lost.
