I thought we knew this already. Nicolas is gone. Martell has filled in pretty nicely so far.

No, I don't feel it. While I think it was stupid to keep playing after his shoulder injury last year, and that he should have rested this summer, this is a typical thing that young players who think they are invincible do. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like Yao Ming breaking his foot, or Ginobili and his ankle. The other thing being, is that some Blazers who have got hurt it has given them an opportunity to work on their game. Stuff like footwork, improving strength in the weightroom and other things can be accomplished during this time period.

Every team will have injuries through out the year. That is reality. Look over at LA with Pau Gasol out becaues he played in the summer. I think they are hurting a hell of a lot more than we are. :devilwink:

If you believe Batum has the potential to be a lockdown defender - and I do - this injury hurts. It hurts us now (even though Webster has been OK), and missing a season will hurt his development.

I *hope* this was just a case of a young player being macho and downplaying the injury to the staff.

Or perhaps it's as he described it. That he felt he could play but that it got significantly worse as tried to play through it. Why the conspiracy about this issue?

No shit. Nobody was a complete failure here, other than Batum's shoulder. He should have been resting it, but he wanted to play through it. I don't think the Blazers could have stopped him from playing with his national team. It seems like some people don't believe an aggravation can make an injury worse than the original injury.

I for one am glad batum play this sumer I don't want players who don't play because they might be hurt or just sore. It shows that nic wants to play and get better. Is the season only 5 months ?

I've always wondered MIXUM, has anything NOT been a disaster from your POV?

Much like MIXUM's guarantee that the Blazers wouldn't make the playoffs without a trade at the deadline last February. Yeah, that was a disaster, too.

They aren't saying he will be out for the season because he won't be out for the season.. UP to 5 months, as you say, means 5 months is the projected maximum. That means he will be back at the end of March/beginning of April. Make sense?
