1.) Webster is looking great. I love his defense, especially against Melo. 2.) Oden is still very "raw" offensively. <--- Dude needs to figure it out. 3.) Roy is the man. I would say he's one of the top 10 players in the nba right now. 4.) We need to shoot the damn ball better. 5.) HANDLES!!!!! Dude some of our turnovers are unforced. Like tripping while driving, or just losing the ball on the dribble. I think Nate really needs to focus on this big time. 6.) Kudos for Nate trying to get scoring in the paint. I noticed way more plays for cutters. We don't have that "post up" score, but at least we are scoring in the paint more. 7.) We don't have that "winning swagger" on our faces right now. I can't wait until we come to places knowing the only way we lose the game is if we lack the effort. We have the tools to beat anyone, I just don't see the confidence in our players yet. All in all, I think we get a C+. We should be much better than our record shows, and both wins were very ugly. We still need to force the other teams to change their game plan during the game instead of us changing.
This season? Isn't this thread just a little premature 4 games in? That's like grading a test after the first two questions.
I am just seeing it like I see it. I have no doubt the Blazers will get it together, but right now, we aren't looking so good. We have 4 new players (Oden missed a bunch of games last season, Webster and Howard) and lost a very key player in Batum. Once we get things worked out with timing, confidence and defense, we will be a monster team.
Let's consider October to be the "What I Did Over Summer Vacation" assignment. D- (1-2)... not good, not good at all. However, I'm more optimistic about the first big set of assignments: November, December, and January. Now the lessons are truly beginning.
From the previous seasons, it seems we don't really hit our stride until December. I sure hope we have a good November.
