He said he got chastised big-time by fellow players and coaches alike for his disappointing effort against Battier. He wanted to make up for that tonight. Essentially, his quote was directed towards himself. I'd say he took ownership.
He probably meant Ariza. Although his shooting percentage wasn't all that great tonight, he played some great defense and kept us afloat in the second quarter.
I gotta tell you, I am becoming a major Webster Homer. The dude is giving 110% effort every night. I am such a fan of Hustle.
Count me in amongst those who are starting to become Martell converts; I've always been massively underwhelmed by his inefficient play and tendency to lose focus and confidence (to go along with his previously very mediocre defense). He's been playing balls to the wall on defense so far and he's no longer drifting in and out the flow of the game. I hope he keeps it up!
Me too, I am such a fan of hustle play, and he's becoming more and more like that "Hustle Guy" we've so missed for quite some time.
Wasn't expecting Marty to look as good as he has. I was worried about him starting after Nic went down, but after watching him the first four games I think it's safe to say he's going to be able to handle that role quite nicely.
With statements like this, I look for sincerity. If he really feels this way, he will do his best not to have lapses. He had one last night. Let's see what he does in the up coming games.
I like what Webster is doing. No doubt about it. If he can continue it - I will be a card carrying member of the Webster fan club - and will accept any "told you so" you throw in my face for being doubtful...
I've defended Webster in the past and thought he'd be a nice role player eventually, given that he matured. He still could shoot a little more efficiently, but I'm glad he's not just camped out anymore in the corner and doing nothing. And defensively, he's going for rebounds and steals. It's good to see. Hopefully he can stay consistent with his effort.
I have always been a Martell fan. They actually had a video that I made on the Blazer home page right before they switched it. It was of his rookie season i believe. I got into a faze of trying to make videos like the Nike commercials at the time, lol. hes my 2nd favorite Blazer behind Roy... Still hope he pans out to be a solid starter for the Blazers and to shut all my friends up who have done nothing but say we need to trade him for the last year or two. heres the video i made btw, lol.. 2006. What IS the name of the song in that video? Ever since I first saw that video a few years ago (love it, btw), I've been dying to know.
I cant remember and I created it on an old computer of mine and dont have the files anymore... sorry, I do know the song was like a 8 minute long instrumental though, lol.
We still prefer Batum - who is a much better defender and has a much higher ceiling. But, Webster is showing improvement - and we are happy about that.
