Because a scoring 3/2 is what we're missing right now? :)

Gay would be awesome. I met him at an olive garden in manchester ct when he played for uconn.

He would also kinda heal the durant sting... oden/gay > durant

Match what? We've got no cap-space this summer. Secondly you do realize he's basically Travis Outlaw with more hype and more touches right?

Well I wouldn't say that....he's significantly better at driving. A bit worse at shooting the jumper, but just as clueless on defense.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
    Oh? That's what Portland needs?

A player who put up a 15.1 PER, while scoring at a .541 true shooting percentage (which factors in free throws and the greater value of three-pointers) and a fairly average (for position) 9.1 Rebound Rate with questionable defense? That does sound like a solid wing role-player who can score a bit.

Oh, sorry. That was Outlaw. Here's Gay: 15.3 PER / .528 TS% / 9.1 Rebound Rate. With questionable defense.

Of course, Gay did have a slightly better Assist Rate. However, he also had a greater turnover rate.

Rudy Gay: Travis Outlaw with a better name brand. And the concomitant higher cost.

He's currently the 3rd/4th option on the Grizzlies.

He should have taken the money while he could get it.

I would be VERY interested in Rudy Gay. He and Brandon = new age Jordan\Pippen. Matched with Batum and Rudy coming off the bench? Sign me up.

What would it take to get him?

He definitely should have. I think that he is going to be one of a large number of guys who are going to regret turning down big contracts when the new CBA kicks in.

You're not saying Outlaw for Gay. You're saying Outlaw, Blake, and Joel for Gay. If you want to switch Outlaw and Gay straight up be my guest. I'm not a huge fan of Blake, but I think Joel will be coming back.
