I was hoping for LA Clippers but we can take the Grizz none the lessI see us giving up 1-2 games tops
This is a easier matchup imo, because Grizz don't have the star players Clips have. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I see us giving up 1-2 games tops</div>Agreed, as long as we come in and don't take them lightly and just play our game.
Pretty equal in terms of player wise, Star PF, a 6th man great benches. But AJ tops Fratello. I think it will be a good seriesDallas wins 4-2.
I agree, Memphis is a team that gave Dallas some trouble this season. Mavs need to go all out from the start and not let up. Memphis could win some games but Dallas should be able to win the series.
The problem Dallas will have is that Memphis is a good defensive team and will be able to come up with stops. Its playoff time and in the playoffs you cant just win by outscoring people. Having said that, I know Dallas has gotten away from that mindset and improved defensively this season thanks in part to Coach Avery Johnson, but the playoffs are a different animal. They will have to prove they can get stops and play good defense if they want to last long in the playoffs. This is a tough early test and a slap in the face to a team that did so well this season, having to play such a tough first round opponent..It should be interesting how they come out and play, because this could be a good series..
Yeah this is a tough matchup but the Grizzlies are mentally weak in close games. I see the mavs winning in 5 close games. Nothing will be a blowout.
No offense hoopskid but it sounds like your saying Memphis is the more experienced team and Mavs aren't. Mavs are a better playoff tested team then the Grizz, we basically have the same team from last year improved and we got out of the first round against a tougher team in Rockets. So I think Dallas will get past the first round.
I think Memphis is a good team but the Mavs usually do well against them so I think they should win this series fairly easily...5 maybe 6 games.
mavs have this in the bag, 4 games 5 max, it'll be the 3rd straight your the griz get swept out of the playoffs

Stoudamire is out for the season since about December. And Juwan Howard!!? He's not a Mav anymore, I think you meant Josh Howard who plays small forward, Griff starts at sg. Also, why are you breaking it down in individual matchups, this is a team game, no one is playing one on one.
Schedule aside, Grizzlies on rollMemphis brings 8-1 record in April into tonight's Game 107:54 PM CDT on Saturday, April 22, 2006By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning NewsThe Mavericks' first-round opponent, the Memphis Grizzlies, could be considered one of the hot teams coming into the playoffs.Memphis won eight of its last nine games. But closer inspection reveals that seven of its last nine opponents finished under .500 and an eighth, the Los Angeles Clippers, seemed disinterested in the 81st game of the season.Still, good teams should go 8-1 against that kind of competition ? and the Grizzlies did."We knew they were a good team even if they would have lost five of their last six; it doesn't matter," Dirk Nowitzki said after Saturday's practice. Game 1 is tonight at American Airlines Center. "The playoffs are like a new season. We understand we have our hands full with the way they played. It's a tough matchup for us."The Mavericks won the season series, 3-1, including a 97-87 victory in the finale Feb. 23 at AAC.Getting healthy: Josh Howard (lower back) and Darrell Armstrong (left ankle) practiced but were held out of contact drills. Both are expected to play tonight. Devin Harris (strained left quadriceps) practiced and should play.Howard's back was hurting so bad Thursday that he couldn't bend over."It was just a little tweak, but I'm feeling better," said Howard, who wasn't sure if he hurt his back in a game or practice. "I'm going to get treatment so I'm 100 percent."How to avoid 0-2: Coach Avery Johnson talked to his team about not getting down 2-0 to start the postseason. Last year, Houston jumped out to a 2-0 lead against the Mavericks ? who wound up winning the series in seven games."We just had to make some points about it," Johnson said. "We don't think we want to dig ourselves a hole like that. This team we're playing is very unique and we think this first game is very important."Terry looking for more: Jason Terry struggled at times during his first playoff appearance last season. Though he averaged 17.5 points and made 50 percent of his shots, his inability to make a defensive stop on a pivotal 3-pointer by Phoenix's Steve Nash in Game 6 is what he's best remembered for. Terry said he needs to control the game much better, especially on defense."I'd say my [problems] were indecision more than anything else," Terry said. "When I looked back on the mistakes that I made in the playoffs, it was because I was ineffective. This year, I'll be more deliberate and more assertive."Dirk will get acquainted: Johnson expects Memphis to throw different defenders at Nowitzki along the perimeter."I'm sure we're going to see everybody on Dirk, like we have before," Johnson said. "You'll see [Lorenzen] Wright on him, [Shane] Battier on him, [Jake] Tsakalidas on him. You'll see a lot of different guys on him. And you have to be ready for everybody."Staff Writer Eddie Sefko contributed to this report.E-mail cwatkins@dallasnews.com[url="http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/basketball/mavs/stories/042306dnspomavsdate.26df590.html"]http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...te.26df590.html[/url]
Right now, if it wasn't for Eddie Jones the Grizzlies would not be in the game right now. Pau Gasol is struggling and they are getting killed on the boards. Eddie Jones made a few big shots in that first quarter and he also made a few defensive plays that have made a difference in this game.Gasol needs to step up for his team.
Dirk is owning Gasol. Eddie Jones is a big time player though along with Bobby Jackson.Marquis for 3! 51-42 Mavs up.
Watching this game, I think maybe having Dampier and Diop might help you get past the Spurs and I hope you do because I would like a Suns-Mavs match-up because we'd actually have a decent chance and it would be an exciting series judging by our games in the regular season. I'd also rather have you guys beat us than the Spurs. Your centers could really do well against the Spurs' big guys. Hey, maybe if we get lucky then Dampier and his big self can sit on Duncan's foot and aggravate that injury a bit. J/K, I don't want anyone injured...or do I?
