So far - 91.8 possessions per game - which is faster than last year, but still slow. That's why we talk about defensive efficiency and offensive efficiency. The fact that so far they seem to be better is something that is interesting - when you consider how confused they look out there.
That is what he's saying. That simply makes no sense...if Portland were making other teams look great offensively, their own defensive numbers would look terrible. Portland holding Houston under 90 points on opening night is half the reason Houston is near the top in offensive efficiency? Really?
The mention of small sample size isn't only a caveat in this argument...it actually renders the stats irrelevant. Let's see what it looks like at the end of November... The OKC awful offense is skewing this data beyond value. The "eyeball" test is far, far more valuable than any statistic at this point.
How does Nate get a pass? He's supposed to be a defensive genius??? Well, god forbid what we'd look like if it weren't for the defensive genius of Nate.
Last year - we started 1-3 after 4, this year: 2-2. On the other hand, for ALL of last year we had like 60% wins or something, this year - 50. so I guess we would have to wait and see.
