To be honest,I dont think he has been rebounding all that great. He played 49 minutes last night, he better get 10 boards. The other night he had 3 rebounds!
He's averaging over 10 boards a game. People are being to damn critical. This team is full of people who can rebound (Kobe, Pau, Odom, Artest, Bynum). We don't need one person to dominate the glass.
His rebound rate is down from last year, he's averaging a board less per minute and this is with Pau out. I think he's a great offensive player but he's not rebounding as well, in this short span of games.
Rebound rates and other micro-stats are worthless to me for two reasons: I don't understand them or care to understand them by breaking the game down that much and overall he is still averaging a double double, I'll take that. Wanting him to be Dennis Rodman is insane, we all know he isn't a natural rebounder so wanting him to be one is just absurd. He's good enough to grab 8-11 a game, and with this team, that is all we need.
He's not averaging a double-double. He's getting killed some other places for his boarding and defense btw. I don't hate the dude, but I want him to do a better or equal job, to last year. And he's not at that level yet.
My bad, I thought he was @ 20/10. He's @ 20/9. I'll take that any damn day of the week. Especially with Odom, Kobe, and Artest who can all board.
He only has 23 defensive rebounds in 4 games or just under 6 per game. That's not getting it done. For comparison Dwight Howard is snatching 9 defensive rebounds per game.
I want that Bynum from a couple of years ago (maybe slightly more polished, but you get the point). He doesn't just have to be about O.
I'd like to see him get back to the 07 numbers with 7.2 defensive rebounds (10.3 RPG, 2.1 BPG, 13PPG) If he continues to shoot a high clip at the free throw line his PPG should be 15PPG, which is ideal once Gasol returns.
What I really like about Bynum is his offense, but in terms of rebounding, he's pretty much ok or just above-average among centers. I read an article before saying that Bynum trusts Odom to get the boards since he prefers to run down the court in advance to get ahead of his man and get the easy score. It's not really a bad thing, but I believe he should do it in moderation.
