They could be known as the closers or the finishers or The Three-Guard Monster from Spain, Maryland and Turkey.

Someone's going to come up with some kind of snazzy nickname for the group Raptors coach Jay Triano expects to rely on down the stretch of close games.

Jose Calderon, Jarrett Jack and Hedo Turkoglu, all capable ball-handlers, good from the field and solid from the free-throw line, are going to be given every chance to close out games, just like they did Wednesday night as the Raptors evened their record at 2-2 with a 110-99 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Air Canada Centre.

"After four games, what we've been able to see is that if we have Jarrett, Jose, they can't really pick you up with one strong point guard and Hedo can handle the ball really well," Triano said after Toronto ended a two-game skid before a smallish crowd billed at 17,915.

"Then when we swing the ball and go side-to-side, not only are you dealing with three guys who can make plays, they can handle the ball and they can make free throws.

"Late in the game, I like the fact that they share the basketball and they know how to spread the floor."

And pull a team up by its bootstraps, if necessary.

After frittering away a 17-point lead, Toronto found itself down 91-90 with about 7 1/2 minutes to go.

But with the three ball-handlers creating some havoc with a normally solid Detroit defence, the Raptors finished with a 20-8 run.

Lol, Jack - Calderon - Hedo. Should be right up there with KG - Pierce - Allen.

I don't know what to make of this. I am just imagining closing out games with this lineup when we play teams like the Heat, the Lakers, and generally any team with a good two guard. Jack can guard PGs decently but can he guard strong and fast SGs? we gonna let Calderon guard them?

I guess Triano thinks the offensive benefits outweighs the defense flaws.
