Lebron has thought about playing for the Blazers. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...i-06-bulls-bits-chicago-nov06,0,1083400.story I know he would take away from Roy but Lebron coming off of the bench would be sweet!
I would trade Aldridge or Roy, Miller, Bayless, Webster, Outlaw and pretty much anyone else, besides Oden and Roy or Aldridge (Got to have one of them) to have LJ.
As long as Lebron can adjust to Nate's style of play and doesn't get in the way of Roy . . . I think Lebron could help the Blazers. I would do a Blake, Bayless, Webster for Lebron.
Last summer LeBron came out to the Nike campus and someone asked him if he'd ever play for the Blazers and he jokingly said that he would need a building on the Nike campus named after himself and his own personal jet, then he'd play for Portland... MAKE IT HAPPEN PAUL ALLEN!
I think that with 7 years in the league, he is clearly a vet - so he should rally be used as a veteran presence next to Howard - and if Batum and Webster and Outlaw are injured - he might see some minutes.
HAHAHAHHAHA I would to. Doubt Cleveland would even answer the phone. Would you do a Roy, Webster, Outlaw and blake for him?
That's way too much to give up for a single player, I mean what would Brandon do if Blake wasn't by his side? No, far better if we offer Mills, Pendergraph and Bayless because then we don't risk upsetting our rotation ... by removing anybody from it.
Lebron would sign an offer sheet with the Blazers first, then both teams would get together and talk. They would reach an agreement to do a sign n trade so Lebron could get max money and Cleveland would agree to take our crap rather then let Lebron walk for nothing.
Would it be fair to compare LJ and Roy as similar type players? Something like LJ = Jordan and Roy = Drexler in actual talent? Now I'm not saying Roy = Drexler's talent, but the difference between Roy's talent to LJs.
That essentially amounts to Roy for James, straight up. The other players you include aren't going to be consequential to Cleveland. They already have plenty of decent/good role-players. They need star power to go with them. I think it would take something like Roy, Oden, Fernandez and Batum/Bayless to get them even remotely interested. And even then only if James said he wasn't going to sign in Cleveland. Of course, for Portland to have any reason to do such a trade, they'd have to get James' commitment to stay with the Blazers long term...a sign & trade.
Let's be fair here, Drexler as a one-on-one player would probably eat Brandon's lunch, he was just that physically dominant and overpowering. I think the difference between Lebron's and Roy's talent/impact is probably comparable to Jordan vs. Drexler, but only wider.
No, I'm not saying Roy's talent is as good as Drexlers. I was trying to figure out the actual talent difference between LJ and Roy. I think they both play with the same type of mold. Driving, posting up, getting others involved. Just LJ is much strong, more talented and well just a hell of a lot better at doing it. Asking you guys by how much.
I'm thinking 6th man of the year. Assuming of course that Travis gives up the ball every now and then. He and Miller would be sweet for those 18 minutes a night.
I don't think either Drexler or Roy could stop the other one-on-one. Drexler was more physically imposing, but Roy has a skill and economy of motion in getting to the hoop that is really hard to compare to anyone...it's that unique. I actually think the two are comparable talents...both gifted slashers who could also shoot and pass well. Drexler in his prime had the defensive edge, but Roy could (and should, IMO, considering his athletic tools and intelligence) at least match him.
LeBron's defense is too good for this team, it goes against Nate's philosophy of defense. Plus his three ball isn't strong enough. As everyone knows a SF's job is to wait in the corner until a Roy kick out Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate in the clock. I feel like LeBron would just clog the lane more. If he's comfortable playing behind Blake, Miller and Juwan Howard he might make a good 18th man that we could let develop in Europe for a few years. I just don't think we would be willing to part with Blake to make it happen and I hear Cleveland says it's a no go if we don't include Outlaw and Blakey. KP said he wants to stick with "his guys" and let the cake bake. Of course KP put that cake in about 3 years ago and then the place burned down that same night. When the Firemen asked why KP had left the oven on so long he said he wanted to stick with his guys and let it bake. They explained that "of course at some point you have to pull the cake out" which caused consternation and a look of fear in KP's face. KP just kept insisting that they "let it bake". When the Firemen showed him ash covered asbestos gloves saying "Here's your cake KP" He was heard to cry "Blaaaaakey!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" and run off crying and yelling hysterically about "his guys" and the need to "LET IT BAAAAAAAKE!!!!"
