There is a rumour floating around the interwebz that the UFC will announce a middleweight signing at UFC 105 or 106. Last time such a rumour came up, the UFC walked away with Vitor Belfort. This time it seems the UFC may be getting Robbie Lawler back.

Lawler last fought in the UFC at UFC 50 against Evan Tanner, losing by triangle choke. In seven fights for the UFC he went 4-3 with wins over Rampage's sidekick Tiki Ghosn, Steve Berger, and two lightweights (Chris Lytle and Aaron Riley). Lawler suffered an injury against Pete Spratt as a result of an onslaught of leg kicks and then was knocked out by Nick Diaz a year later.

Since leaving the UFC Lawler has had eight wins, seven by TKO and one by submission, to go along with two losses and one no-contest. His biggest win came against Murilo "Ninja" Rua at EliteXC: Uprising in 2007.

Lawler left the Miletich camp to help form The HIT Squad with Matt Hughes last year, IIRC.

That would be a Net loss for the UFC.

Lawlor although 8-2 outside the UFC since, will be in the middle of the pack of a hungry division of a variety of talents,

strikers, Wanderlei, Belfort, McFedries, Leben, Cote, Bisping

BJJ guys: Palhares, Maia, (no more Leites lol)
    Judo: Akiyama

    Wrestlers: Sonnen, Okami

    Well rounded: Marquardt

I'm not sure where to put Belcher, Gouveia, and Grove, but anyway they are quality guys as well.

Never mind--in response to this rumour, Strikeforce has booked Lawler to fight on December 19th.
