http://twitter.com/pdxtrailblazers "McMillan just said he would in fact start Blake, Roy AND Miller tonight vs. Spurs. Martell will come off the bench" i dont like this move
Nor do I. It would only work if LMA is on the bench and Rudy starts too. And after we do that - maybe we CAN trade for S-Jax.
Terrible. Worst since the McInnis-as-shooting-guard move so long ago. This team has other options, though, so it makes it worse in some ways. Why the fuck is Blake starting ahead of Webster and Rudy? It's just stupid. Ed O.
I like the idea of Roy being the SF, but I much prefer having a real SG in the starting SG spot. I'd rather Blake or Miller, Rudy and Roy.
Nate's obsession, man love, possible civil union on the side with Blake needs to end somehow. If that is Blake being traded or McMillan being relieved of duties it needs to stop; the three guard lineup has worked terrible thus far this year and it is horrifying Nate does not see that.
As Bill Walton might say, that is the worst coaching decision in the history of NBA basketball. Just unbelievable.
Holy mother of god. Hasn't he learned that Blake/Miller/Roy doesn't work already? Jesus Christ, god save us all.
Seriously - the only way this might, just might work - is because the Spurs have been starting Parker, Finley and R-Jeff - Roy can guard R-Jeff - and since Finley is practically a mummy at this stage of his career - one of Blake and Miller will probably be able to guard him. Still - this is a very strange decision.
You're right, but... What does Blake do better than Webster or Rudy? Walk the ball up, but he should be the THIRD ball-handler on the floor. Maybe he's a superior three point shooter? I don't think so, but maybe, but he puts us at a defensive disadvantage even worse than he normally does by being in there. Ugh. Ed O.
Good god, Blake/Miller is the worst defensive backcourt in the league. How bad does Nate want to lose?
I guess Nate figured that Webster will strengthen our 2nd unit - so he moved him there for better balance. No, honestly. I really do not know. Maybe they think that the Spurs starting unit is not a fast unit (other than Parker) - so they are going to try and push the ball down the throat on transition and exploit LMA's speed advantage over Boner? Honestly, I have no effin' clue.
Puzzling decision. That strikes me as the worst possible combination of three players that Portland has tried and now McMillan wants to start with it? Maybe he realizes that he's addicted and can't stop himself, so he wants to get it over with as quickly as possible and then go with a lineup that might be successful for the remaining three quarters.
Run? Run? Let's just give the fuck up on running. He's said it for ages, and we haven't changed. Let's just forget running.
Look, I am trying to find a logical explanation - and I do not have too much time doing it. So, there you have it. Other than that - I really do not know.I have had, what, 20 minutes to work on it? There are bound to be some issues with the theory. The one that was killing us last year, on the Spurs - was Parker. Maybe he thinks that having 3 guards that are all switching on defense will somehow help slow him down?
What's the over under on Oden on the bench with two fouls? I'm thinking 1.5 minutes. I might have to take the under on that. Nate's head, on a pike, outside the Rose Garden - near the fountains perhaps.
Yes, they are, but they are better than Rudy and they are better than Webster on quick guards. We do not have Nic, and Webster is really a better defender on bigger, stronger wings - so this leaves us with Bayless - which he (Nate) is clearly not ready to trust. I am trying buddy, I am trying. I do not get this at all. Hope we win big and he proves us all wrong, is all I am saying.
