I really hate working on this group of muscles, I was just wondering if you guys know any quick, effective exercises for building abs. I need to get mine back in shape, but I hate doing all those reps to see any results. Right now I just do raised crunches which I hate, I want something that will take less reps and is more strenuous. Thanks in advance.

I think Crunces are the best for abs, but its all about form etc... for it to be effective

No crunches are probably the worst, they put the most strain on your back/neck and do the least amount for your abs, focussing on just one area and not taking advantage of all the movement..Try this...Decline situps on an incline bench..Go up like a regular situp but when you come back down dont touch your back on the bench..You should do this with weights to make it toughter..Its pretty sternious you shouldnt be able to do too many..Try doing three sets of 25..

^thats wat i do...its really good, although if u dont do it right you might end up wokring out your legs more. also to get to your lower abdominals try doing leg raises, those work.

Those incline situps are really effective, I never knew you shouldnt go all the way down though. I'll try it.

If you want your abs to show you need to first remove the fat on top. Everyone has abs they're just usually covered by flab and having a strong abdominal just makes them more defined. And theres no lower of upper abs. It's all one "Ab", try cutting a rubber band and holding each end and see if you can make one part stretch but not the other.

Well I have little or no fat, but I think I did add a little bit of flab there over the winter, which is probably why they look les defined now. Nothing I can't easily get rid of though.

If you don't see it 99% chance it's because of fat. And like I said theres no such thing as lower and upper abs.Sit ups on a ball with a weight held behind your head seem to work well for me. People seem to think low weight high reps is best. Do like 5 sets of 15 reps holding a 25 pound disc and you'll have soar abs for a week.

There are lower and upper abdominals. I'll try that out though, seems like a good exercise.

You may have a coar muscle underneath but that won't really affect anything. Trust if you upper abs show more than your lower it's because your body is storing the fat on the lower. Keep your sugar low and you'll see improvements. If you're really into bodybuilding checkout wannabebig.com I think that's the name. That's where I learned all my stuff. Great info. You could search for your ab question too. :winkglasses:

Plus it's good to vary your exercises to keep your body always on it's toes (no pun intended). The only way you'll show those abs is if you watch what you eat.A good saying is "abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym"
