Need a bit of advice. I go to NDSU in Fargo, ND, studying Zoology. Goal is to become a zoo keeper. To be a zoo keeper you need a degree in some sort of animal related field.

I hate my school. Its not really the school, its just the fact I'm wasting time learning math shit and crap I don't need. I'm not saying its useless, its only useless in zoo keeping where everything I'll ever need to learn is learned in internships. But I need this stupid degree.

Here is the question? A fellow zoo keeper wannabe at the University of Minnesota and I have been talking, and we brought up the idea of maybe transferring out of our schools and going to Colorado Springs, to a community college that has a zoo keeping program. This program is only for zoo keepers and you actually learn at a zoo. All useful stuff. We ahve a friend who went there who said it was perfect for a zoo keeping wannabe.

So should I transfer. Tuition will cost the same, and her and I will get a apartment together. Obviously it's a big move to a brand new part of the country where her and I know no one. The problem with staying at our schools is we have classes coming up we don't think we can pass at all, such as the higher Chem and Physics classes, classes that aren't needed in zoo keeping. I feel like I'm on board as long as she is. Any thoughts/suggestions/advice?

If you go there will be trouble and if you stay it will be double.

Follow your heart. Never look back with regrets.

    Does that help?

Sounds like a great adventure, and Colorado should be a nice change of scenery for you.

And you'll be 174 miles closer to the Rose Garden.

Interesting question. But, I don't think I can help much, outside of telling you that higher level Math/Sci classes aren't as hard that difficult if you put in work.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you develop interest in zookeeping? Is that what you want to be doing for the rest of your life?

I have seriously problems with math. I'm in the lowest course at my school that you can actually get a credit for and I'm gonna have to blow the teacher to pass.

I've always had a interest in animals, but I didn't know what I wanted to do. I always enjoyed the zoo, and thought itw ould be sweet to work at one. I volunteer at a very big zoo in teh summers and go to know a lot of the keepers and they just had awesome stories and awesome lives to me. It pays nothing, you get worms every year, and you smell all day, but it couldn't get any better to me.

lol It's not a bad place at all you guys. Just the weather is cold. I'll be coming to Oregon in January and it will seriously be a intense heat wave for me. But it's not a terrible place.

On a serious tip, follow your heart. SOmetimes you gotta jump out of your comfort zone and do something different. I was stuck in a dead in job for about 7 years after high school. Washing cars a car dealership for $4.75/hour! I swore that's what I would be doing for the rest of my life. My girl of 5 years dumped me sayin, "When are you going to go to college! You have a shit job and all you do is sit around and watch basketball!" The opportunity came up for me to go to Mt. Hood Comm. College. I got accepted in their TV Production program and have never looked back. I was freaked out, because I quit the only lifestyle I knew(as shitty as it was!) and had no idea if what I was doing was going to better my life or not. I say if you are stuck in a rut with what you are doing now, why not do it? Plus since you have been having sex with farm animals your whole life anyway, this is like winning the jackpot for you! Good luck brother!

I just started school the fall and went through the process of selecting a school. I think you should take a trip down there and check the school out.

Talk with the teachers and students in the program and ask them what the pros and cons are. I've found most professors are open about the strengths and weaknesses of the programs they work in. It sounds like gaining experience is important for you and this program might provide that for you.

HCP were you really born here? Where?

I really think I will. It probably wouldn't be this coming semester but next fall. I've heard nice things about Colorado Springs, and Colorado in general. The only problem is the Nuggets. Walking around Minneapolis, I don't mind seeing Love jerseys or Jefferson jersesy, but I'm going to kill someone when I start seeing Martin and Anthony jerseys.

Btw, I do not have sex with farm animals. Except for that time with HCP's wife.
