That second half was hard to watch, however, this may be bringing the Packer Nation closer to the end of the Thompson/McCarthy era. I'll drink to that!
Im happy I couldnt watch the game, it would of hurt that much more. I think TT is more the problem then McCarthy.
I don't understand the play calling on offense for the Packers. They rely on the big pass, don't move the pocket enough for Rodgers, and aren't taking advantage of shorter passes. Rodgers seems a lot more effective when he's on the move and not dropping back and trying to go through his progressions while the pocket collapses on him. The defense is awful despite bringing in Dom Capers to revamp it. They just can't get pressure or penetration in the backfield.
There's quite abit of head-shaking going on in Packerland today, mostly due to the play calling as you point out. The Packers bread and butter has been the slant pass, I didn't see one on Sunday. Rodgers not only was "required" to stick to the 3 step drop, but he was given absolutely NO HELP from McCarthy in pass protection. No 2 TE's, NO 2 FB's, nada. It's no wonder AR has the most QB rushing yards in the NFL! One note on the Tampa defense on Sunday, they're not running the Tampa 2 all of the time, there was a lot of man coverage and that was effective enough to hurt the Packers Passing game, because Rodgers just didn't have the time to let his receivers get free back there. And I won't even discuss our Not-so-special teams today, that's just too painful.
