I've said it before, but I'd trade Roy for Paul. Paul Rudy Batum Aldridge Oden Tell me that lineup doesn't win championships.
Who would replace Aldridge? It's not like we have a plethora of power forwards on our team. We do, however, have a number of shooting guards. One of which, Rudy, could easily start on our team or others in the NBA.
Pretty much my opinion as well. LMA, Rudy, JB, Travis, Blake, Webster, Cap space, cash, picks and... for CP3 and bad contract. You keep Roy, you keep Oden and hopefully, Batum - and you are in business for ever and ever. I just hope CP3 can handle giving Oden some of the PG duties, at least on the break.
Hell fucking YES. Who the fuck wouldn't? That would be a steal that would make the Pau Gasol trade to the Lakers look like an fair trade by comparison. Hell no it wouldn't be enough. We'd have to give up more. In my mind we start by taking Roy and Oden off the table. If this really is a firesale, we don't start by offering our two biggest assets. Beside, I don't think Shinn would want Roy. He'd basically be giving up one max. contract unhappy superstar for another max. contract superstar who will also be unhappy. He would want Oden, but I'd refuse. Anybody else he wants, in any combination he wants is fine with me. I'd also take back any contracts he wanted to dump and wouldn't bat an eye. Peja, sure, David West, Emaka Okafor, James Posey, anyone you want to dump, I'd take. This is Chris Paul - 24 year old superstar. He led the league in assists last season where David West, Rasaul Butler and an over the hill Peja Stojakovioc where his top targets. Imagine what he could do if you surround him with talent. It's a no brainer. You call up George Shinn and tell him, take anyone you want not named Roy or Oden. Give us Paul and dump anyone else you want on us and if he agrees you thank him profusely and give him $3 million cash and next year's 1st rounder for his trouble. BNM
You know, I'd have to consider a Roy - Paul swap, but it just feels like trading LaMarcus would 'water down' the team more than trading Roy, even though Roy is valued higher than LaMarcus. The reason being, Paul would provide a alot of what Roy does now, with the added advantage of being the best PG in the history of the Blazers. Chris Paul = Roy+Miller+Blake+Bayless. While trading LaMarcus leaves us with NO viable PF at all. I think Paul/LaMarcus/Oden is a better lineup than Roy/LaMarcus/Oden or Paul/Roy/Oden, and no PF.
God, if we had Oden, Roy and Paul, I could start at power forward and we'd still win multiple championships. Seriously, worst case Juwan Howard becomes our short term starting PF until we can find someone better (or Pendergraph gets healthy and proves he doesn't totally suck). Or, we could take back David West or Emeka Okafor. I'd offer him, but with his new, big extension, I'm not sure Shinn would want Aldridge. H'ed probably prefer smaller and/or shorter contracts (Outlaw, Joel, Blake) in return. BNM
Some consider Aldridge overpaid . . . I don't think Shinn would want him. For Chris Paul, you would have the entire league making offers. Given Shinn's mentality (save money) I would think he would be looking for expiring contracts, young cheap talent and dumping his bad contracts. Rudy and Nic are cheap for a couple more years, Blazers have some expiring contracts and Allen has money . . . but genreally I would think Ptd would be a longshot if there were a CP3 sweepstakes.
I'm just not convinced that NOR would accept table scraps for Paul. They will need someone of value that they can market. Someone like Roy.
I would start Joel and Greg. Then get a couple cheap,. Nathan Jawai type players to back them up. Keep Howard. Bring back the Twin Towers! Paul Rudy Roy Oden Joel
The following are the recent coach of the year winners: 2008-09 Mike Brown Cleveland 2007-08 Byron Scott New Orleans 2006-07 Sam Mitchell Toronto 2005-06 Avery Johnson Dallas I think MM is going to vote Nate for COY this year.
Check - Joel, Blake and Outlaw. Check- Bayless, Batum, Rudy, Webster take em all if you want em. Check - Paul Allen has said he'd be willing to pay the luxury tax to win a title. Adding Chris Paul to Brandon Roy, Greg Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge would give him a legitimate shot and winning multiple titles. BNM
Honestly, I don't think Paul is going anywhere. He's locked in. He's going to be there for a while. Unless he starts sand bagging (ala Vince Carter and the Raptors) I highly doubt they will trade him.
I love your thought on the complete cycle if Webster was included for Paul (sounds like KP wanted Paul instead of Webster back then). IMO, I don't think the Blazers have enough. Milwaukie could offer Jennings, Chicago could offer Rose . . . I don't really know off the top of my head the best young talent out there, but shouldn't Shinn be looking for a young star that he doesn't have to pay top dollar for a couple years. But yes, Paul on the Blazers would be awesome (I see him as star, a real team player, and a good character guy)
ODEN wtf over? ARe you insane? Double up in the back court with Paul and Roy and kill our front court? Fuck that. Roy goes over Oden in this trade. If we are talking about a trade for Dwight Howard sure trade Oden, otherwise forget it.
