With him being fired in New Orleans, would you guys be for or against him being Phil's replacement? I'm not sure how many years Phil has left, but Jeanie has hinted he could still be coaching for a few more seasons, or as long as his health dictates. Once Phil steps down though, would you guys welcome Scott back to LA as coach?

I have mixed feelings. For one, Scott does have the experience. He has been in the Finals, he has won COY, he has battled in the postseason, and he has given the Hornets (a losing team) success, even though it was only for one season. I don't know how much you can really blame Scott for the problems in New Orleans, because IMO, they just aren't really good. That being said, he was able to help them overachieve for one years. On the other hand, it seemed like he completely lost his team the very next year, witnessing a 58 point massacre in the postseason. This isn't the first time either, as he seemed to have problems with Jason Kidd and the Nets back in Jersey.

Scott, from what I have heard, is nothing like Phil Jackson. He is strict disciplinarian, no nonsense coach. He runs his team to the ground in training camp. He's definitely not as laid back as Phil. With that being said though, there is only one Phil Jackson, and it would be unfair to hold anyone to his standards. Kobe Bryant also seems to have a lot of respect for Scott, whatever that is worth, so respect won't be an issue IMO.

Another thing to keep in mind though is the triangle offense. If we hire Byron Scott, will we completely scrap the offense and start on something new? If so, then it really changes the dynamics of the team. Although Scott's resume isn't too shabby, it seems to me that he loses his team very quickly (NJ and NO). I also remember that the Nets fans, when they used to post here, didn't have much kind words to say about Scott. Apparently he was a lazy coach and a lot of their success had to do with Eddie Jordan (???).

I'm really mixed on this issue. I know a lot of Laker fans still love Scott and would welcome him back with open arms, but he's too much of a mystery to me. I've been getting mixed vibes from him. To be honest, I would rather give Brian Shaw a shot, keep the triangle in tact, which probably seems hypocritical, but I'm weary of Scott due to the criticisms I've heard about him, and the lack of stability he has had in his career.

I'm ok with it, though I'd much rather go with Shaw. I also wouldn't be shocked if we lure Kurt Rambis here. He only signed what, a 2 year contract? I think Phil will probably come back for next season, so who knows. At this point though, I think the job should go to Shaw. He'll run the triangle and knows all the players on this team well.

if you actually think he helped new orleans overachieve, then i think you'd probably have to think he'd at least be a decent option as coach.

i think scott is a decent coach, but i don't think he can be given credit(or blame) for the hornets success(or failure). once paul established himself as a superstar, the hornets were good when he had help(basically when peja was healthy) and struggled when he didn't have help. hard to blame that on the coach. paul, west, and chandler(or okafor) isn't enough for a successful team. paul, west, chandler(or okafor), and healthy peja is.
