You be the GM. What moves would you make this off season? What direction would you take this team in? Who would you trade or sign?
Well, first I would aqquire a tough, big man with offensive abilities in the post via trade, free agency, or draft. Washington hasnt experienced that kind of presence inside since the Chris Webber times. Jamison is just too soft, he's more of a finesse player, and he always has some really bad nights. Jeffries is used at SG to guard opposing teams' star players, and Etan can play PF well but Eddie Jordan likes to put him at C. Dwight Howard is someone I'd love to get, but he'll probably stay in Orlando because of his amazing potential. Nene is a possibility, and he can give you reasonable stats at PF/C. The Wiz are a bit thin at PG. We have Gil, who really isnt your typical PG, and Antonio Daniels, who is more of a combo guard but can play the PG position well also. Rookie Donell Taylor plays PG sometimes, but he is better used for SG because of his size at 6'6. He also has trouble getting the ball over half-court when there is defensive pressure in the backcourt. Sam Cassell is someone I'd like to get, but its obvious he'll stay with the Clipps, and he's getting a bit old as well. Someone coming out of the draft, like Marcus Williams, could be a good fit. Not a huge scorer, but thats not we need anyway. The problem is he commits alot of TOs and we dont need that at all 'cause we already have Gil on this team. Two more pieces I'd get is a backup PF/C and SG. Two names that come to my mind are Joe Smith and Deshawn Stevenson. Smith is from the Maryland area, has aged somewhat, but only 31 still. He's still capable of putting up 10 and 5 every night. Not a bad defensive player either. Stevenson is a guy with major hops, good abilities on the offensive end, and a great guy to have off the bench for depth. These two pieces would be great because it'd add more offense to our bench, which is one of the worst in the L. Also, it's nice to complement it to the big 3 of Arenas, Butler, and Jamison. Not to mention defensive-minded players in Jeffries and Haywood. Then we have a veteran in Daniels who can drive to the lane still at 30+ years old. This would be our lineup for next year if this happened: PG Arenas/Daniels/M. WilliamsSG Jeffries/Butler/StevensonSF Butler/Jamison/HayesPF Nene/Smith/ThomasC Haywood/Ruffin/BoothThat's a very deep lineup, and if we dont trade Jamison, he'll most likely decline somewhat starting in the lineup, so we'd bring him off the bench for even MORE depth. Some of these players might not return for next year, like Jeffries, Hayes, or even Jamison. Those guys would have to leave in order to aqquire the new guys.
Mid Level Exception on Speedy Claxton, draft Josh Boone or Hilton Armstrong, and trade Jamison for Sean May, Kareem Rush, and second round draft pick. Just an idea, probably not the greatest of ideas, but it wouldn't be horrible.
What?! We can get much more than Sean May and Kareem Rush for Jamison...Claxton is another good choice, Boone and Armstrong are good defensive big men but I'd like a post player who has offensive skills in the paint.
DONT TRADE JAMISON the big three will just progress as they get to know each other better, butler has only been on the team for one year, and we're already doing great. Killing the big three could have effects on Arenas and Butler's trust of other players. It's part of the mentality.

Kareem rush isn't even on Charlotte anymore, he got cut. remember?-Draft Cedric Simmons.-Sign Peja (?).

Not another shooting SF, like we have in Jamison. We need someone who can score inside, and provide a big presence on the boards. We can also try to get Corey Maggette at SG, but thats going to be kind of tough. We'd have to give up our 18th pick.
