Agreed. Their "opinions" have very little to do with it. It's more about the need for attention. http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2004/5/15/19332/5961
Yes, the end has been neigh on this forum for a while now. I'm sure it's gonna collapse here any day now. THEN we will know what the real problem. Us. Us is teh real problem. Ed O.
Based on what? The last two migrations were caused by: ESPN totally changing the format of their site and making the forums unusable. The mods/admins violating their own rules and personally attacking posters, baiting and trolling. Neither migration had anything to do with the content of the forum. It was due to site management in both cases. Sportstwo seems to have management that gets it. They don't make indiscriminate changes to the site, and most importantly don't deliberately alienate their largest, most active group of posters. BBF, on the other hand, gave too much power to a bunch of very juvenile mods/admins who had axes to grind with the Blazer fans. Quite frankly, I think they were motivated by jealousy that the Blazers forum was much more active than their own teams' forums. So, rather than take action to increase activity in the other forums, they deliberately sabotaged the Blazers forum. So, now they reign supreme over an empty kingdom. Good for them. They "won". It's not the hosting site that makes the forum, it's the poster who participate there. While there are a few very prolific posters here who annoy the hell out of me with their negativity and trolling, they are easy enough to ignore. It's certainly not enough to make me leave. And, if we all ever do leap to another site, I'll go too. It's no big deal. All I have to due to change one bookmark in my web browser. I don't see it happening, but sites change. They get bought and sold and go out of business. I hope that doesn't happen to Sportstwo, but if it does, I'll just move on to the next site. BNM
No need. There's nothing there. Anyone who follows the link will just come right back here. A couple weeks ago, I wanted to look up an old post I made there and couldn't even find the site. I'd deleted my bookmark over a year ago, and got tired of paging through pages of google search results trying to find the correct URL. In other words, don't worry about them. They aren't serious competition to this forum. In fact, I think you should sticky the link. Five minutes on that wasteland will just reinforce how good we have it here by comparison. BNM
ABM what was that board we were on just before bbf? How many of us are left? How many here have gone to one of the blazer bashes we had? Names have changed, and some have disappeared I suppose, but there is a core of people still posting together. Even when I wasn't posting much....years....I always preferred this group.
Good riddance, the Blazers posters were above me, and the one poster left on this site is me. My imaginary friends and I celebrated over it. R-Star
You guys just have to know R-star. he hangs out all day in a basketball forum posting in the "video games" and "anything but basketball" sections. He is looking for anyone on the internet that will talk to him . . . doesn't know much about basketball and is so socially inept that he rips on anyone he can (over the internet of course)
Huh, I know that me and a bunch of other posters came from ESPN when their forums went to shit in like... 2003? I think. Wow.
OK, OK...stupid me just couldn't leave there again without sending my love: R-Star provided his obligatory response:
Is it me or is his spelling way worse than it used to be? Maybe posting on a board where no one else does leads to spelling ability atrophy. Ed O.
My view is we have nothing to fear. Either we're good enough or we're not. All we can do is cater to every poster we can. As you pointed out, "It's not the hosting site that makes the forum, it's the poster who participate there." I wouldn't worry about S2 getting sold, we're not for sale and we won't sell out.
Anyone care to explain the story of the mass exodus from there again? Sorry, too lazy to look it up...
